Huawei launched an updated version of the AITO Wenjie M7 car on Tuesday, and its managing director said that the new model can maintain a "seamless connection" with the Mate 60 Pro smartphone.
Powered by the HarmonyOS operating system, the intelligent car is packed with all the capabilities used on the company's smart phones, according to Yu Chengdong, managing director at Huawei and chief executive officer at the firm's consumer business group and intelligent automotive solution business unit.
The new model is equipped with the company's high-end intelligent driving system, which enables high-speed and high-end intelligent driving for urban roads that "does not rely on high-precision maps," he said.
Jointly designed with its collaborative car partner company, Seres, Huawei has provided support for product design, industry chain management, software ecosystems and user management.
It is expected that navigation cruise assistance smart driving function will cover the whole country in December, according to Yu. He said he hopes China will open up Level 3 of autonomous vehicles soon.
Level 3 autonomy is where the vehicle can perform dynamic driving without human intervention. Self-driving cars progress through six levels of driver assistance technology in total.
In addition, the new car is equipped with 27 different types of hardware, which is combined with a high-performance computing platform and algorithms, achieving both dynamic and static perception to targets, or obstacles on the road.
"Wenjie M7 has broken through the boundaries in many fields, such as tram endurance, smart cockpit and smart driving," Yu posted on Weibo after the press conference.
