With the rising popularity of electric vehicles, Hong Kong has seen a significant increase in the number of newly registered electric cars. Out of the 18,000 newly registered electric cars in the city, 6,415 were Teslas, making it one of the most popular electric car brands in Hong Kong.
The first V4 Supercharger station in Asia has officially arrived in Hong Kong. The Supercharger station is located in Lee Garden One, Causeway Bay, and is now operational.
Currently, all three V4 Supercharger stations are located in Lee Garden One, making it the largest charging center in Hong Kong Island.
Tesla’s regional director, Fan Jingyi, has stated that the newly launched V4 Supercharger station is equipped with longer charging cables to facilitate use by owners of other electric car brands. The current charging power at the station is up to 250kW per vehicle.
In the future, the charging system will be OTA upgraded to further improve charging efficiency. As for the charging fees, they will be similar to the current V3 system, with prices ranging from approximately HKD 3.05 to HKD 4.05 per kilowatt-hour (around $0.4 to $0.5).
Tesla currently operates 65 V3 Supercharger stations and 124 destination charging stations in Hong Kong, covering all 18 districts.
Tesla’s partner, Hysan Development, has announced plans to increase the number of charging stations in the area to 165, including 15 supercharging stations and 150 free destination charging stations.
The fastest supercharging station in the area can recharge up to 275 kilometers of range within just 15 minutes.
