A unit of CRRC Corporation, the world's largest supplier of rail transit equipment, has won the largest supply deal of 50 diesel multiple units in Argentina’s history.
CRRC International Corp. has inked a contract of 50 DMUs with Argentina’s national railway company, the Beijing-headquartered firm announced on WeChat yesterday without disclosing details about the value of the deal nor the delivery schedule.
This is the second time that the Chinese state-owned company has secured this type of order from Argentina as its Tangshan branch exported 27 DMUs to the South American country in 2015, marking the largest DMU order in the history of Argentine railways at that time. The Tangshan branch has exported trains powered by diesel engines to countries including Bangladesh, Angola, and Nigeria.
In the first half of this year, CRRC’s exports totaled around CNY12.5 billion (USD1.7 billion), up 44 percent from a year ago. During this time, the company's passenger trains were exported to the United Arab Emirates for the first time and it also penned the first full lifecycle project with Singapore’s Land Transport Authority, the operator of bus and MRT networks in the Southeast Asian city-state.
Shares of CRRC [SHA: 601766] closed 0.19 percent high to CNY5.31 (70 US cents) today.
