Chinese shipbuilder Hudong-Zhonghua delivered a new self-made LNG carrier on Tuesday.
With this delivery, the company has set a new record by delivering six LNG ships in a year, surpassing its target for 2023. This achievement offers another sign that China's comprehensive construction capabilities for large-scale LNG carriers have reached the global advanced level.
The LNG carrier, Emei, is a 174,000-cubic meter LNG carrier self-designed and constructed by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding.
The total construction period was 17 months and eight days, the shortest period the company has yet achieved for a large LNG carrier.
The ship is designed to offer low energy consumption, high reliability and economic advantages, and it can meet the strictest international emissions standards. It also has good ship-shore compatibility, flexible adaptability to different routes, and can reliably dock at most land terminals worldwide.
Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding has completed and delivered a total of 17 ships throughout the year, completing 106 percent of the annual plan. Most were high-end ships, indicating significant progress in the company's upgrading process.
In the next five years, the company plans to deliver nearly 50 LNG carriers, contributing to China's "dual carbon" goals and global green shipping.
