On 7 May 2024, PV giant LONGi has announced a new world record conversion efficiency of 27.30% for its crystalline silicon heterojunction back-contact (HBC) solar cell at the launch of LONGi’s new HBC solar module, Hi-MO 9, in Madrid, Spain.
LONGi’s top BC record has been verified by the Institute for Solar Energy Research Hameln (ISFH) in Germany. LONGi’s new world record of 27.30% for monocrystalline silicon solar cells, surpassing the previous record of 27.09% announced in December 2024, underscores its commitment to producing high-quality and high-efficiency solar cell technology. Meanwhile, the new generation Hi-MO 9 module using 2.0 HPBC technology was launched at the event. This cutting-edge solar product is another culmination of LONGi’s innovation technology, with a maximum power of 660W and a conversion efficiency of up to 24.43%. The Hi-MO 9 module is characterised by its exceptional resistance to humidity and heat, a decisive advancement given the widespread need for durable and efficient solar solutions with high energy yield and low BOS. It is designed to reduce light-induced degradation and prolong module power generation over time, which is particularly important in high heat and uneven light irradiation scenarios. It is expected to be ready for mass production in the fourth quarter of this year, ushering in a new era of photovoltaics power generation.
