On 14 August 2024,China Energy Engineering Cooperation Limited(CEEC),a leading power engineering and construction company,announced that its subsidiaries have entered into an EPC contract with Buraiq Renewable Energy Company-one Person Co.,a Saudi Arabian company,for the design and construction of the fourth phase of the Haden PV project,at a value of$9.72 billion(approximately RMB 6.979 billion yuan).
The project is situated in the western region of Saudi Arabia,93km east of Taif City of Makkah,with an installed capacity of 2GW.The Haden PV Project is one of three solar PV projects being developed by ACWA Power and PIF in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.It forms part of PIF's commitment to develop 70%of Saudi Arabia's renewable energy by 2030,in line with the country's National Renewable Energy Programme.
CEEC's subsidiaries will provide the following services within a 31-month period:engineering design,equipment procurement,transport and installation,construction of photovoltaic power plant,transmission lines,substations,grid connection and commissioning.A further 24 months will be allocated for the warranty period.The project is scheduled to achieve commercial operation in early 2027 and is expected to generate a total of approximately 156,189 million kWh of electricity and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 147 million tonnes over 25 years after completion.
