China National Petroleum Corp, or CNPC, secured purchase agreements with 22 countries and regions worth $17.1 billion during the ongoing 6th China International Import Expo, or CIIE, in Shanghai on Monday as the company continued to step up global cooperation in energy fields.
The company’s accumulated procurement during the past six years reached more than $110 billion since it participated in the first CIIE in 2018.
CNPC will continue to strengthen global energy cooperation and exchanges with partners in technological innovation, while exploring the potential for green and low-carbon cooperation, Hou Qijun, the enterprise’s president, said during the sixth CNPC International Cooperation Forum and Signing Ceremony in Shanghai on Monday.
CNPC saw its oil and gas output in countries and regions participating in the Belt and Road Initiative exceed 80 million metric tons for the fourth consecutive year last year, with combined annual oil and gas trade volume reaching 250 million tons.
CNPC operates 51 oil and gas cooperation projects in 19 BRI countries and its overseas operations have also seen major breakthroughs in recent years, it said.
The company expects its domestic natural gas production this year to exceed 150 billion cubic meters, accounting for two thirds of the national total. Its imported natural gas is expected to reach 90 billion cubic meters, accounting for more than 55 percent of the national imported gas total, it added.
