The World New Energy and New Materials Conference will be held in Ordos, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, from June 28 to 29 this year, the Ordos government — also the event's host — said on Wednesday.
Titled "New Era of Energy, New Future of the World", the conference will feature various activities, including a summit, an exhibition, two forums and two competitions.
At the opening ceremony of the conference, officials from the event's organizers as well as officials from the International Energy Agency, the Global Wind Energy Council and the International Solar Energy Society, will deliver speeches.
Company executives in the new energy and new materials sectors will also share their latest technological achievements.
A number of top global energy enterprises will also participate in the exhibition, which include five sectors focused on new materials in the coal industry, innovation and entrepreneurship, companies in wind, solar, hydrogen and energy storage sectors, State-owned enterprises and multinational corporations. The total exhibition area will be approximately 15,000 square meters.
Ordos is known as a major energy and resource city in China, with coal sales reaching 840 million metric tons and natural gas sales hitting 30 billion cubic meters in 2022.
In recent years, Ordos has seized the opportunity presented by China's green goals, fostered and expanded its new energy and new materials industry. While ensuring energy security, the city is accelerating its green transformation in the coal industry and promoting the development of renewable energy, said Chen Zheng, deputy head of Inner Mongolia's energy administration.
