1. China has released an implementation guideline on strengthening the integration of new energy vehicles with the power grid, according to the National Development and Reform Commission. The guideline aims to give full play to NEVs' important role in electrochemical energy storage systems, consolidate and expand NEVs development advantages, and support the construction of new energy and power systems.
2. Forbus released its 3rd annual list of the top 100 CEOs in the Middle East on Wednesday. Among the top CEOs on this year's list are the head of the world's largest oil company, and the head of the world's largest LNG producer. Combined, the 100 CEOs managed revenues of over $1 trillion in 2022. The companies are collectively worth more than $5 trillion.
3. The largest energy storage power station in S China's Greater Bay Area began operation in Guangdong Wed. With an installed capacity of 300 MW, the station accounts for 1/5 of the region's total new energy storage capacity and can deliver 430 mln kWh of clean electricity annually.
4. China has 126,400 global patent applications for solar cells, which ranked first in the world. China's leading new-energy vehicle producers have more than 100,000 valid global patents, leading in the green and low-carbon industry, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said at a press briefing on Wednesday.
5. Tesla today announced that it has deployed over 55,000 Superchargers worldwide, exceeding its September 2023 target.
6. China cell prices decreased across the board as downstream demand remains sluggish. Monocrystalline PERC M10 and G12 cell prices were assessed at $0.0452/W and $0.0462/W respectively, down 6.61% and 20.89% from their last 2023 assessment on Dec. 12. TOPCon M10 cells also declined this week, falling 4.26% to $0.0584/W.
7. Sinopec announced that Sinopec Capital Co., Ltd. has invested in LinkCharging located in Xi'an and completed delivery. This marks the company's first venture into charging piles.
8. Chinese battery and EV giant BYD yesterday started construction of its sodium-ion battery plant in Xuzhou, Jiangsu province, Xinhua Daily reported today. The plant has a total investment of CNY10 billion (USD1.4 billion) and a planned annual production capacity of 30GWh.
9. STMicroelectronics and Li Auto have entered into a long-term supply deal for silicon carbide. Li Auto, a prominent player in China's new energy vehicle sector, specializes in the design, development, manufacturing, and sale of high-end electric vehicles. STMicroelectronics will supply Li Auto with SiC MOSFETs to bolster Li Auto's high-voltage battery electric vehicle (BEV) initiatives across different market sectors.
10. Today, the China State Administration for Market Regulation announced that Tesla (Shanghai, Beijing) had recalled over 1.6 million electric vehicles due to safety concerns. The affected models include imported Model S, Model X and Model 3, as well as domestic Model 3 and Model Y.
