1. China's first hydrogen-powered smart intercity high-speed train, CINOVA H₂, made its debut at InnoTrans2024 in Berlin on Tuesday. The train boasts a top speed of 200km/h, powered by a self-developed 960 kW hydrogen fuel cell that can ensure zero emission travel.
2. China has improved water and soil preservation rates and reduced loss with a total treatment area covering 620,000 square kilometers in 10 years, thanks to its massive efforts to protect ecology and environment, according to Vice Minister of Water Resources.
3. BYD plans to bring more models to Japan, as the Chinese new energy vehicle giant continues to push forward with its efforts in international markets. BYD will introduce its 7-seat Tang SUV in Japan to expand its current product matrix in the country, according to a report from local media outlet 36kr.
4. Luxeed, a new brand jointly created by Huawei and Chinese automaker Chery, has rolled out a new all-electric model that is yet another Tesla Model Y challenger. The Chinese tech giant launched the Luxeed R7 at its fall product launch today, the second model under the Luxeed brand after the Luxeed S7 sedan, and the first coupe SUV under its HIMA business.
5. The Biden administration's proposed ban on Chinese connected-car technology could prove its strongest weapon yet to fend off an onslaught of cheap Chinese electric vehicles that has upended the global auto industry, Reuters reported. The ban on hardware and software, announced Monday by the U.S. Commerce Department, is the administration's latest salvo after imposing 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs and denying a $7,500 consumer EV subsidy to any vehicle with made-in-China components.
6. BAIC BluePark's NEV annual production capacity was halved to 270,000 units after its Beijing unit moved manufacturing to a plant in the city's Miyun district where the Stelato S9 is produced. The unit’s annual output will be cut to 120,000 units, compared with 320,000 units originally planned in 2022.
7. Nio and Chinese fossil fuel giant Sinopec Group have reached an agreement on charging, after the two entered into a partnership to build battery swap stations several years ago. Based on the agreement, users can find and use Sinopec's nationwide charging stations on the Nio App, in-vehicle screens, and the Jiadian App developed by the EV maker.
8. The NEA said China's cumulative installed solar capacity hit 750 GW by August 2024, with 139.99 GW added in the first eight months of 2024, including 16.46 GW in August alone. Total power generation from all energy sources reached 3.13 TW, up 14% year on year. Wind capacity grew by 19.9% from the preceding year to 470 GW.
9. Tongwei said it has signed a technology cooperation contract with Scenergy to develop stack-gate technology and establish mass production plans in Chengdu, Sichuan province. The partners aim to expedite the transition from pilot production to industrial-scale manufacturing while clarifying each company's rights and obligations in the development process.
10. JinkoSolar said it has delivered the first batch of its 340 MWh liquid-cooled energy storage system, SunTera G2, for a project with Jiangsu-based Sunrev. The 5 MWh system features Jinko's latest 314Ah battery cells and a leading liquid thermal management system. With a round-trip efficiency of 94% and a cycle life of 8,000 to 10,000 cycles, the company claimed it ensures high performance and economic viability throughout its lifespan.
