1. A 500,000-kW PV power station was connected to the grid and started power generation Fri at NW China's Tarim Oilfield, with its annual green power generation capacity reaching 930 mln kWh, replacing 300,000 tons of standard coal use and cutting CO2 emissions by 726,000 tons.
2. State-owned Chinese firm Sinopec signed a new 27-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply and purchase agreement with QatarEnergy, the two companies said on Saturday. Under the agreement, the two companies will cooperate on the second phase of the Gulf Arab state's North Field expansion project, which will supply 3 million metric tons of LNG per year to Sinopec.
3. Ganesh Iyer, CEO of Chinese NEV startup NIO's US branch, said that the company aims to expand to the US market by 2025 by exporting its EVs from China rather than building plants locally. Manufacturing in the US is too expensive and there are almost no tax incentives, he added.
4. Porsche is not yet able to locally produce in China, considering the country's luxury car market size, Porsche China CEO Michael Kirsch said at the CIIE recently. We will pay more attention to customers' personalized options and special needs, he added.
5. Chinese EV giant BYD plans to build its first European car factory in Hungary, according to a German newspaper The Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung citing unnamed sources close to BYD, said the decision had already been made internally. A government website in Shenzhen, where BYD is headquartered, posted an article last month saying that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban met BYD Chairman and President Wang Chuanfu on a visit to the company.
6. According to the National Development and Reform Commission of China, nearly 60% of China's prefecture-level resource-based cities have become important national energy resource supply bases as of 2022. The GDP of the country's 262 resource-based urban areas has doubled from CNY 15.7 trillion in 2012 to nearly CNY 30 trillion in 2022. Additionally, since the "14th Five-Year Plan", air quality in resource-based areas has been optimized, and energy conservation and emission reduction have achieved remarkable results.
7. MG Motor, a subsidiary of China's SAIC Motor, has made a significant milestone in its expansion in Southeast Asia with the launch of its first-ever electric vehicle (EV) produced in Thailand. The MG4 Electric Thailand Edition was officially rolled out on November 4, marking a new era of sustainable and eco-friendly transportation in the country. The launch was attended by Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, who visited SAIC Motor-CP, SAIC's joint venture with Thailand's Charoen Pokphand Group.
8. SAIC Motor sold about 491,000 vehicles in October, 104,000 of which were NEVs, the Chinese carmaker said today. SAIC exported 111,000 cars to overseas markets last month, up over 32% from a year earlier.
9. China's State-owned Sinochem Holdings Corp Ltd signed over $13.5 billion of procurement deals with over ten countries including Argentina, Ethiopia, France, Saudi Arabia, the United States and Japan. These agreements covered fields such as crude oil and refined oil, chemical products, manufacturing equipment and trade in services.
10. Shanghai-based high-tech firm Westwell brought its smart unmanned commercial vehicle with swappable batteries, Q-Tractor P40, at CIIE 2023. The model is mainly applied in airports, industrial parks, and other scenarios to improve logistics operation efficiency.
