1. China's first batch of 15 self-driving patrol cars approved for road testing recently hit the public roads in Beijing, performing round-the-clock duties. The vehicles feature a 360-degree multi-sensor fusion perception capability with a detection range of up to 120 meters.
2. The world's largest clean energy corridor on the Yangtze River generated 276 billion kWh of electricity in 2023, a 5.34% increase from the previous year. It saved 83 million tons of standard coal, reduced CO2 emissions by over 200 million tons, and met the annual electricity demand of more than 290 million people. The corridor consists of six cascade power stations with a total installed capacity of 71.695 million kilowatts, equivalent to three Three Gorges power stations.
3. BYD expects its net profit to have jumped 74% to 86% to between CNY29 billion and CNY31 billion (USD4 billion and USD4.3 billion) last year from the year before, maintaining its leading position by NEV sales, the Chinese EV and battery giant said yesterday.
4. VW Group yesterday named Thomas Ulbrich, ex-member of the management board of the Volkswagen Brand for New Mobility, as China CTO, effective April 1, succeeding Marcus Hafkemeyer. Ulbrich will continue to advance the technological localization of the German carmaker in China.
5. Two U.S. House committees have requested the Biden administration to investigate four Chinese companies that are said to be involved in Ford Motor's proposed Michigan battery plant. According to a letter seen by Reuters, the committees reviewed confidential records provided by Ford and were not allowed to disclose their identities. The Michigan battery plant has garnered criticism from U.S. lawmakers for utilizing technology supplied by Chinese battery maker, CATL.
6. Xiaomi Auto today refuted a media report claiming an insurance company confirmed that the price of the SU7, the carmaker's first EV model, was CNY361,400 (USD50,440). That price was just a testing price to get car insurance, the firm added.
7. As one of China's major water conservation projects, the 113.2-km Pearl River Delta water resource allocation pipeline project started operation Tuesday, expected to supply 1.708 billion m3 of water per year and benefit 32 million residents in south China's Greater Bay Area.

The state-run oil producer said on Tuesday that it had been asked by the energy ministry to abandon a plan to increase the kingdom's maximum sustainable production capacity from 12mn barrels a day to 13mn b/d by 2027.
10. The China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance recently announced the sales performance of power batteries in December 2023. CATL received three awards for their outstanding performance in December, ranking first in terms of domestic power battery installed volume, domestic ternary power battery installed volume, and domestic lithium iron phosphate power battery installed volume.
