1. Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD agreed with the Turkish government to build a $1 billion production plant in Turkey with an annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles, Turkey's industry and technology minister said on Monday. Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir posted pictures on social media platform X of Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan meeting BYD Chief Executive Wang Chuanfu at a deal-signing ceremony for the plant.
2. Xiaomi will release its third vehicle model, a hybrid extended-range electric SUV designed for family users, in 2026, 21Caijing reported. The firm is set to introduce a pure electric SUV next year as its second model after the SU7.

The electric car model Atto 3, an electric subcompact crossover manufactured by China's BYD, topped car sales in Israel in the 2024H1, according to data published by the Israel Vehicle Importers Association on Tuesday. From Jan. to Jun., 7,265 units of the model were sold in Israel, surpassing any gasoline-powered or electric model. The Czech petrol small family car Skoda Octavia was next on the list with 4,159 units sold during the same period.

Honda Motor will halt vehicle production at its factory in Ayutthaya province in Thailand by 2025 as it plans to consolidate its output under the plant it runs in Prachinburi province, the Japanese automaker said on Tuesday. The move highlights the tougher conditions Japan's second-biggest automaker faces in the Southeast Asian nation as Chinese brands aggressively seek to gain market share in Thailand and consumer demand for electric vehicles grows.
6. China's industry ministry issued on Tuesday a draft rule increasing the minimum capital ratio for solar photovoltaic manufacturing projects to 30%. Previously, the minimum capital ratio was 30% for polysilicon manufacturing projects and 20% for other PV projects. The rule applies to both new construction and expansion projects. The comment period for the draft rule will run until July 15, according to a notice on the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's website.
7. China's first new energy project in Bangladesh, Cox's Bazar Wind Farm, successfully entered operation in 2024. With a total nominal power of 66 MW, it is the country's first large-scale centralized wind power project. The project will generate 145,000 MWh of clean energy wind power annually, meeting the electricity needs of some 100,000 Bangladeshi households.

Saudi crude oil exports to China will rebound in August to at least 44 million barrels after deep price cuts by state energy firm Saudi Aramco supported demand, several trade sources said on Tuesday. August exports to China will rise for the first time in four months, from about 36 million barrels in July, the sources said. The rebound will help the biggest oil exporter regain its share in the largest import market.
9. A 50-MW photovoltaic power generation & energy storage project in Shigatse, SW China's Xizang, was connected to the grid Sunday. The project can generate 82.95 mln kWh of electricity a year, equivalent to cutting CO2 emissions by 69,500 tonnes, helping promote local development.
10. China's deep-sea heavy-duty mining vehicle "Pioneer II" has completed sea trials at depths exceeding 4,000 meters, carrying out 5 seabed mining missions continuously with the deepest reaching a record of 4,102.8 meters, marking China's breakthrough in deep-sea mining technology.
