1. On June 14, according to BYD, it will launch five electric vehicles in the French market and will deliver the first batch of vehicles to French dealers as early as this month. BYD hopes to open 15 to 20 points of sale in France with partners by the end of this year.
2. On June 11, the construction of State Grid's Hunan Miluo Pumped Storage Power Station started. The total investment of the power station is 8.1 billion yuan. After completion, the total installed capacity of State Grid's pumped storage operation in central China will exceed 20 million kilowatts.
3. Cutting-edge technologies and products featuring new energy and low-carbon development are being showcased at an international carbon neutrality expo in Shanghai, one of the country's vehicles for fulfilling its commitment to reaching peak carbon emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060. Themed "Path to Carbon Neutrality," the ongoing expo aims to promote the application of carbon-neutral technologies and the development of emerging industries, accelerating the green and low-carbon transformation of economic and social development.
4. Recently, the delivery of 200 hydrogen vehicles equipped with SPIC's HYDROGEN FORERUNNER fuel cells was held in Wuhan, China. The vehicles will serve scenarios such as urban distribution and bulk commodity transportation in Wuhan. Among them, the 4.5-ton van can achieve zero carbon emissions and zero pollution.
5. On June 14, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Natural Resources of China, China's lithium reserves increased by 57% YoY, among which Jiangxi Province's reserves surpassed Qinghai and Sichuan, ranking first in the country, accounting for 40% of the total. The increase in national lithium reserves in 2022 is also mainly in Jiangxi, accounting for 94.5% of the increase.
6. OPEC left its 2023 global oil demand growth forecast steady for a fourth month on Tuesday. The OPEC report stated that "the positive effects of China's reopening have continued to support global economic growth". Annual oil demand in China is expected to rise by 0.84 million barrels per day for 2023, according to OPEC.
7. During the Intersolar Europe 2023 held in Munich, Germany, Huawei launched its new smart PV brand FusionSolar, aiming to work with industry partners to build an open and win-win industry ecosystem, accelerate PV to become the main energy source, and enable green electricity to benefit thousands of industries and households.
8. Aiko Solar, a Chinese leading solar cell and module manufacturer, won the Intersolar AWARD 2023. The ABC Modules created by Aiko Solar combine n-type solar cells with passivating contacts and back-contact architectures to create some of the world’s most powerful solar panels. The PV modules reach a capacity of 610 watts at 23.6 percent efficiency, significantly higher than most available panels. Aiko Solar was praised for metalizing their ABC modules without using silver, which significantly reduces silver consumption and is more environment-friendly.
9. A big deal of hydrogen investment in China! With a total investment of 62.2 billion yuan, the hydrogen energy and silicon full industry chain project of Inner Mongolia Yaoyu New Energy Technology was filed in Hohhot City, N China. The project will build 100,000 tons of electrolyzed water to produce hydrogen, 100,000 tons of core-grade polysilicon, 40GW composite battery components, etc.
10. China's photovoltaic industry registered strong expansion during the March-April period, data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology showed. During the period, the output growth of polysilicon, silicon wafers, batteries, and components all exceeded 72 percent year on year, according to the ministry. China's exports of photovoltaic products surged 29.3 percent year on year to top 10.7 billion U.S. dollars in the same period. In the first four months of this year, the country's exports of photovoltaic products exceeded 19.3 billion dollars, up 18.9 percent from the same period in 2022.
