1. The core module of Linglong NO.1, the world's 1st commercial small modular reactor, passed the acceptance test Thur, marking China's breakthrough in nuclear reactor manufacturing. Linglong NO.1 can produce 1 bln kWh of electricity a year with a power generation capacity of 125,000 kW.
2. The first clean, low-carbon, and green hydrogen production and storage integrated project in NW China's Yining City, Xinjiang province, received an investment of RMB 125 million from the national budget. The Chinese hydrogen industry giant SinoHytec has partnered in the project's construction.
3. BYD’s Atto 3 received a JPY850,000 (USD6,180) clean energy vehicle subsidy in Japan, becoming the first Chinese car brand to be given such approval, the Chinese car giant’s Japan unit said yesterday. After the subsidy, the Atto 3 will be priced from JPY3.6 million (USD25,800).
4. The largest electrochemical energy storage power station in China connected to the grid! China National Nuclear Corporation's Xinhua Power Shache Solar-Storage Integrated Project located in the Kashgar region of NW China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region connected to the grid on Thursday. The project’s supporting energy storage power capacity reached 200MW/800MWh, with a total investment of RMB 5 billion.
5. BYD currently has a production capacity of 150Ah blade sodium batteries. And the 20MWh Sodium-ion Magic Cube Cabinets System has been put into trial operation in S China's Nanning, said Yin Xiaoqiang, general manager of BYD's energy storage and new battery business department, said at China's 2nd Sodium-ion Battery Industry Chain and Standard Development Forum on Thursday.
6. China's BYD has submitted a $1 billion investment proposal to build electric cars and batteries in India in partnership with a local company, three people with direct knowledge of the plan told Reuters. BYD and privately held Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering and Infrastructures have submitted a proposal to Indian regulators to form an EV joint venture, the people said, asking not to be named because the application is private, according to Reuters.
7. In H1 of 2023, SW China's Yunnan province newly added new energy power generation installed capacity reached 7.1165 million kW, 4.8 times that of the whole year of 2022. So far, the province's new energy installed capacity has reached 20.7 million kW, accounting for 19.26% of the province's unified installed capacity. New energy power has become the second-largest power source in Yunnan after hydropower.
8. China’s electricity market reforms aim to improve the operational efficiency of the power sector, while simultaneously supporting reductions in energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. New research shows that the influence of local interests may limit gains to half of their estimated potential.
9. China, the world's largest producer and user of photovoltaic (PV) modules, will face massive retirement of PV modules, which have service lives of about 25 years. The country's PV industry and researchers are working to find sustainable and economical ways to recycle the coming tens of millions of tonnes of retired modules.
10. Baoneng Motor lost the property rights of its NEV production base in Xi’an, the local authority recently said. The base started construction in March 2018, with a total investment of CNY17.1 billion (USD2.4 billion), but has not been officially put into production.
