1. Recently, Unit 1 of Indonesia's Boya Project successfully connected to the grid, ready for external electricity supply. The project, China Huadian's largest in Indonesia, has a total capacity of 1.32 million kW, representing 18% of Sumatra's existing capacity.
2. Harnessing the wind, the China-operated De Aar Wind Power Project in South Africa generates over 750 million kWh of green electricity annually, lighting up about 300,000 homes and helping reduce CO2 emissions by about 700,000 tonnes.
3. BYD has told its India joint-venture partner Megha Engineering it would shelve plans for a new $1-billion investment to build electric cars after its investment proposal faced scrutiny from New Delhi, according to Reuters.
4. The Pakistan Karot Hydropower Station has officially undergone over a year of safe operations. The 3.64 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity generated so far has saved about 1.59 million tonnes of coal & reduced 3.98 million tonnes of CO2 emissions. Developed by China Three Gorges Corporation, it is both the first Belt and Road Initiative hydropower project and the first project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. With a 720,000 kilowatt total capacity, it serves over 5 million people.
5. A container ship anchored at Tianjin Port, where lies the world's first zero-carbon terminal, on Saturday afternoon, opened a new direct shipping route between the pivotal north China port and South America. Nine 35,000-tonne container vessels operated by Wan Hai Lines will serve the route, passing major ports of call in several countries, including Mexico, Panama, Columbia and Ecuador, according to a company representative.
6. By the end of June 2023, the cumulative installed capacity of new energy storage projects put into operation in China exceeded 17.33 mln kW/35.8 mln kWh. From Jan. to Jun., the newly installed capacity was about 8.63 mln kW/17.72 mln kWh, equivalent to the total installed capacity in previous years, according to China's National Energy Administration on July 31.
7. Jack Ma's indirect holding company is involved in offshore wind power. According to the Chinese corporate inquiry tool Qichacha, Jack Ma's indirect holding company in Hangzhou will hold 10% of the shares of a new-established company "1.8 Meters Marine Technology" in Zhejiang, with the registered capital was RMB 110 mln, and business field involves offshore wind power.
8. Chinese scientists have developed a new propylene production method to contribute to carbon reduction efforts. The system using heat generated by its selective combustion of the side-product can lower the reaction temp by 30-50℃ and reduce energy consumption by 20-30%.
9. The Indonesian government discussed comprehensive measures to accelerate the electric vehicles ecosystem as well as to increase investment in the country, Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia stated, according to ANTARA News. Lahadalia added that automobile manufacturers, such as BYD and Wuling from China, will invest in the local EV plant.
10. According to Tongwei official, on July 27, after being tested by an authoritative organization, the front power of the 210-66 HJT module independently developed by Tongwei reached 743.68W, and the module efficiency was 23.94%, setting a new record for heterojunction modules for the fourth time this year.
