1. CO2→Sugar: Chinese scientists achieved precise & controllable artificial synthesis of hexoses from CO2 with higher conversion yield than the conventional method, a key step in synthetic sugar development amid plant biomass loss caused by land scarcity & climate change-related issues.
2. The world shipped 91.6 GWh of energy storage cells in 2023H1 (75.7 GWh for utility-scale and C&I ESS and 15.9 GWh for residential and telecom ESS), with a merely 11% quarter-on-quarter increase in Q2, according to the Global Lithium-Ion Battery Supply Chain Database recently released by InfoLink. 7. The Sirdarya 1,500MW CCGT Power Project in Uzbekistan has reached a major milestone in construction. It is the largest gas-fired combined cycle power station in Central Asia and thanks to China Energy Engineering Crop., will not only offer energy supplies to millions but will also boost the local economy by creating 700+ jobs upon completion.
8. On August 18, data from the General Administration of Customs of China showed that China exported 11,227 tons of rare earth and their products in July, up 11.1% YoY; the export of rare earth and their products from Jan. to Jul. was 69,450 tons, up 1.6% YoY.

10. Trina Solar has delivered a volume of 140MW of solar modules to Voltalia for the Karavasta solar project in Albania. 11. China Evergrande, which became the poster child for China's property crisis, on Thursday filed for Chapter 15 protection in a U.S. bankruptcy court. The beleaguered firm borrowed heavily and defaulted on its debt in 2021, sparking a massive property crisis in China's economy, which continues to feel the effects.
