1. EVE Energy's net profit soared 58% to CNY2.2 billion (USD310 million) in the first half from a year ago, the Chinese battery manufacturer said yesterday. Revenue exceeded CNY22.9 bln (USD3.32 bln), a 54% surge year on year.
2. Changan Automobile said yesterday it was registered by the Department of Business Development of the Ministry of Commerce in Thailand, marking the official establishment of Changan's unit in the Southeastern country, with sales to start by the end of this year.
3. A combined-cycle gas turbine power plant with the largest single-unit installed capacity in Bangladesh has been connected to the grid. The China-designed project can generate 3.3 billion kWh of electricity a year upon completion, benefiting 1.2 million local residents.
4. Scientists at the Zhejiang University in China have fabricated an organic solar cell (OSC) based on an indium tin oxide (ITO) hole transport layer (HTL) modified with an interfacial layer made of recycled indium chloride (InCl3).
5. Saudi Arabia is weighing a Chinese bid to build a nuclear power plant in the kingdom, the WSJ reported on Friday. China National Nuclear Corp, a state-owned company known as CNNC, has bid to build a nuclear plant in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, near the border with Qatar and the UAE, the report added citing Saudi officials familiar with the matter.
6. Chinese state-owned carmaker Dongfeng Motor has launched Nammi, a new battery electric vehicle brand. Dongfeng introduced the Nammi 01, a mini EV priced between CNY80,000 and CNY100,000 (USD10,980 and USD13,730), at a press conference in Chengdu yesterday. Deliveries are expected to begin in November.
7. The largest new energy project in SW China's Sichuan with an installed capacity of 1.17 mln kW started construction Friday. The photovoltaic power station can generate 2.15 bln kWh of electricity a year upon completion in 2025, cutting CO2 emissions by 1.8 mln tonnes annually.
8. The Global Polysilicon Marker (GPM), the OPIS benchmark assessment for polysilicon outside China, fell to $28.2 per kg with a week-to-week decline of 6%. Multiple sources confirmed they saw lower pricing for non-China polysilicon being signed.
9. On August 25, Risen Energy (SZ: 300118) released its semi-annual report for 2023. In the first half of the year, its operating income was CNY 17.607 billion, a year-on-year increase of 39.56%; the net profit attributable to shareholders of listed companies was CNY 861 million, a year-on-year increase of 70.65%; Basic earnings per share of 0.78 yuan.
10. BYD recently supplied a fleet of 10 units of electric double-decker buses B12C01 to Santiago, the capital of Chile. After Hong Kong and London, Santiago became another city where BYD supplied its electric double-decker and the first city in Latin America to get them.
