1. China's user car dealer Kaixin Auto announced yesterday it signed a deal with WM Motor, planning to issue a certain number of new shares to acquire the whole equity of the Chinese EV maker. Kaixin can gain access to the smart mobility biz with the takeover, CEO Lin Mingjun said.
2. The first articulated light rail train customized by CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd. for Mexico City has rolled off the assembly line on Sept. 10, 2023, in Zhuzhou, central China's Hunan Province.
3. China built some 61,000 new public charging piles for EVs last month, up 39.9% YoY, bringing the total number of charging piles in the country to 7.208 mln as of August From Sept 2022 to Aug 2023, around 54,000 new piles were built in China on average each month.
4. China's PV giant Tongwei (SH: 600438) today stated on the interactive platform that the company has achieved a comprehensive production chain covering technologies of TOPcon, HJT, Back Contact (BC) cells, and perovskite/silicon stacked cells.
5. Chinese researchers have recently generated a high-resolution photovoltaic (PV) resources map of China, shedding new light on the country's solar energy potential. According to the map, the annual mean effective irradiance exceeds 1,700 kWh/m2 in western China, with the highest value found in Tibet, while eastern China has an annual effective irradiance of 1,300 to 1,500 kWh/m2.
6. Hyundai Motor Group will consider cooperation with Chinese companies, said the company at Hyundai's Hi-Tech Day on September 12 in Beijing, according to EEO.com. While promoting the IONIQ EV brand, Hyundai will develop cooperation in NEVs with BAIC Group, Hyundai's JV partner in China. Hyundai is also actively seeking cooperation with China's power battery and software companies.
7. Huawei officially released its new five-seater M7 SUV today. Yu Chengdong, the company's managing director and CEO of Smart Car Solutions BU, cited survey data and said that its EV brand AITO ranked first in the quality of new cars of NEV brands, surpassing NIO, Li Auto, Xiaopeng, BMW, and Tesla.
8. China's Trina Solar said on Monday it will invest more than $200 million to build a solar photovoltaic manufacturing facility in Texas, according to Reuters. The company said that when complete the facility will produce 5 GW of modules and source polysilicon from the United States and Europe. The facility is also expected to create 1,500 jobs.
9. Chinese researchers Xiaodan Zhang, Gangqiang Dong and team demonstrate a certified 25.94%-efficiency silicon heterojunction solar cells using undoped tin oxide transparent electrodes and copper contacts, according to Nature Energy.
10. A strategic memorandum of understanding was signed between Mingyang Group and ACWA Power on September 11 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. ACWA Power is the world's largest private desalination company. The two companies plan to strengthen their cooperation in fields such as green hydrogen energy and ammonia in the future.
