1. Chinese scientists have developed a fast-charging lithium-ion battery capable of reaching a 90% charge on a cellphone within just 10 minutes. The graphite-based battery has an ultrathin phosphorus layer on its surface, according to a study published in the journal Nature Energy.
2. Russian Gazprom stated on Wednesday that it had signed an agreement with China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and China Oil and Gas Pipeline Network Corporation to standardize the coordination of the construction of the cross-border section of the natural gas pipeline across the Ussuri River.
3. The first China-developed 270,000-m3 LNG storage tank, the largest of its kind in the country, was put into operation Thursday in east China's Qingdao. The 55-m tall tank has a diameter of 100.6 m and can accommodate a C919 plane, China's homegrown large passenger aircraft.
4. Geely Auto sold 180,706 vehicles in October, up 19% from a year earlier, the Chinese carmaker said yesterday. Ten-month sales rose 17% to more than 1.33 million units from a year ago, of which 265,113 were NEVs, a 37% jump.
5. BYD announced yesterday that it sold 301,800 units last month, up nearly 39% from a year earlier and exceeding the threshold of 300,000 units in a single month for the first time. Experts believe the Shenzhen-based firm can break the three million units line for full-year sales this year.
6. PowerChina said on Thu that it signed a contract with a local Thai company for a 1,000-megawatt wind power project in Laos' Sekong Province. This will be the largest wind power project in Southeast Asia. The project includes the design, procurement and construction of a 1,000-megawatt wind farm and the construction of power transmission, with an annual power generation capacity of about 2.4 billion kilowatt-hours.
7. Shares in Zhongman Petroleum and Natural Gas Group advanced as much as 3.8 percent today after the private Chinese oilfield services company said it has received a license to develop and operate oil and gas fields in Iraq.
8. In a study published in Nature, researchers from the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science (HFIPS) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have proposed a new and promising method of fabricating homogenized perovskite films for solar cells. The process involves inhibiting phase segregation caused by internal cation inhomogeneity to increase conversion efficiency to 26.1%, thus tying the existing record.
9. The 5th World New Energy Vehicle Conference will be held in Haikou, Hainan province, from Dec 7 to 9, the Chinese Association of Science and Technology announced on Tuesday. Zhang Xuming, secretary-general of the China Society of Automotive Engineers, said the conference will focus on hot topics such as the market, technology, and policy coordination under the vision of achieving carbon neutrality.
10. On Nov. 2, Zhu Gongshan, chairman of GCL Group, said at CREC2023 that the new energy storage has become a new growth for the high-quality development of the new energy industry. It is expected that the new installed capacity of new energy storage will reach 20GW this year.
