1. German polymer materials maker Covestro began using electric trucks to transport chemicals over short distances at its integrated production base in Shanghai, marking the operational start of the site's green logistics pilot program, according to Yicai.
2. Southwest China's largest hydrogen fueling center for vehicles was inaugurated in Chongqing on Wed. With a daily supply of 6,400 kg of 99.999% pure hydrogen, the project can support 260 hydrogen-fueled heavy trucks daily and reduce CO2 emissions by 27,000 tons a year.
3. The first battery pack has rolled off the production line at Chinese battery maker Svolt Energy Technology's plant in Thailand. The battery pack that was produced yesterday at Svolt's Sriracha Chonburi plant is an LCTP battery pack, a 60-kWh lithium phosphate battery pack, that allows electric vehicles to run at least 500 kilometers, the Changzhou, Jiangsu province-based company announced yesterday. Mass production is expected to kick off in February.
4. Goldwind Americas, a subsidiary of Goldwind Science & Technology, has announced that David Sale will be departing the company as CEO, effective Dec. 31. Sale joined the company in 2018, charged with leading organizational strategy, business development, capital and technology innovation for Canada, U.S., Mexico and Central America as the subsidiary CEO.
5. On December 21, according to the WSJ citing people familiar with the matter, the Biden administration is discussing raising tariffs on some Chinese goods such as electric vehicles in an attempt to strengthen the U.S. clean energy industry to counter China's cheaper export products.

10. China's Ministry of Finance today announced that from January 1, 2024, the country will implement a provisional import tax rate that is lower than the most-favored-nation rate for 1,010 commodities. This includes reducing import duties on domestically scarce resources such as gas diffusion layers for fuel cells, critical equipment, and components. Additionally, export tariffs on high-purity aluminum will be reduced to promote the development of the new materials industry.
