1. In Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region's Aksu prefecture, a significant shift towards green energy is unfolding at a 250,000-kW solar park built by the Power Construction Corporation of China. According to the company, the construction progress has been steady, with all foundations and over 320,000 photovoltaic panels installed, it is now a 59% completion rate.
2. China is willing to deepen bilateral ties and expand cooperation with Mongolia, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng said on Saturday. Han called for cooperation in energy, connectivity and infrastructure construction, as well as consultation and coordination in international and regional affairs between the two countries.
3. The China-U.S. Working Group on Enhancing Climate Action held its second meeting in Beijing. The discussions centered on implementing their respective 2030 nationally determined contributions (NDCs) and preparing for 2035 NDCs. The topics included the energy transition, methane, circular economy, resource efficiency, and low-carbon and sustainable provinces/states and cities. Both sides look forward to further exchanges.
4. Chinese scientists discovered that watermelon skin membrane demonstrates high ion-solvating performance for electrochemical CO2 reduction. The about 75-μm-thick natural peel gives them inspiration for new ion-transport membranes (ITMs) for renewable energy conversion systems.
5. Shenzhen -- the city where BYD is headquartered -- has seen the number of supercharging stations in the city nearly double the number of gas stations, as about 80% of new car sales are contributed by new energy vehicles. To date, Shenzhen has built a total of 550 supercharging stations, twice the number of gas stations in the city, according to Shenzhen Economic Daily.
6. In August, China's export growth is expected to be the slowest in four months due to declining global demand and increasing trade barriers. Outbound shipments are anticipated to have grown by 6.5%, down from 7.0% in July. Inbound shipments likely increased by 2%, a significant drop from the 7.2% growth in July.
7. China's Envision Energy launched its latest grid-scale energy storage system at the third Electrical Energy Storage Alliance Energy Storage Exhibition held in Shanghai this week. The product’s energy density stands at 541 kWh/㎡, making it the leading one in the industry to date. The product release follows the launch of the 6.25 MWh energy storage system by CATL in April and several other companies launching 6 MWh+ storage systems packed in a standard 20-foot container, ushering in a new energy density era for the battery energy storage systems.
8. Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) signed a one-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) agreement with Indian Oil Corporation on September 9th, committing to supply 1 million tons of LNG annually.
9. Passenger vehicle sales in China fell in August for the fifth consecutive month, industry data showed on Monday. Sales were down 1.1% from the same month last year to 1.92 million vehicles, China Passenger Car Association data showed. Sales had fallen by 3.1% in July.
10. Yu Yongding, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, stated at the 2024 Bund Summit that China is not experiencing overcapacity at the macroeconomic level. He suggested that China should use appropriate fiscal policies to boost the economy and reduce the pressure on exports.
