1. Xpeng has inked a dealer agreement to enter the Qatari market as the Chinese electric vehicle maker continues to expand its international presence. Xpeng has signed an agreement naming Pioneer Motors, a subsidiary of Qatar's Almana Group, as the exclusive distributor in Qatar.
2. SAIC Volkswagen, responding to reports it would close its Nanjing plant, said on Saturday that adjusting its production base was "normal and necessary", according to Yicai. Reuters reported this week that Germany's Volkswagen plans to stop production at one of its combustion engine car plants in China, in a sign of automakers' struggles to manage overcapacity in the world's biggest car market.
3. China's total installed power generation capacity reached approximately 3.13 billion kW by August, up 14% YoY. The installed capacity of solar power increased 48.8% YoY to 750 million kW, while wind power rose 19.9% YoY to 470 million kW, according to the National Energy Administration of China on Monday.
4. A new car carrier for BYD is ready for operation as the Chinese new energy vehicle maker continues to expand its presence in international markets. On September 20, Guangzhou Shipyard International Co Ltd held an undocking ceremony for the 7,000-vehicle dual-fuel ro-ro vehicle vessel built for BYD Hong Kong Ltd, the shipyard said in a September 21 statement.
5. Guangdong has established 1,361 nature reserves, the highest number in China. Over the past four years, over 60 new species have been recorded in Guangdong, with rare species frequently spotted. The province boasts 193 demonstration sites for green ecological construction, offering the public green spaces to enjoy nature and fueling Guangdong's commitment to high-quality development.

In a recent statement, the China Photovoltaic Industry Association said that the US has built high walls of protectionism by imposing multiple trade restrictions and continuously increasing tariff barriers on imported photovoltaic products. Such an example is that the country decided in May that the import tax on Chinese solar cells would rise from 25% to 50%.
7. GAC Aion, a subsidiary of Chinese carmaker GAC Group, unveiled its new electric SUV Hyptec HT in Thailand yesterday. The premium version is priced at THB1.4 million (USD43,820), while the luxury version costs THB1.7 million (USD52,880).

Researchers from Australian National University and Chinese PV module manufacturer Longi investigated the wafer quality of n-type industrial ingots made via the Recharged Czochralski (RCz) process, applying two defect mitigation strategies – Tabula Rasa (TR) and phosphorus diffusion gettering (PDG) – to further improve the bulk lifetimes.
9. China Electricity Construction Corp.'s (CEC) Hydropower Nine Bureau (Shanxi) said it has launched a tender for the centralized procurement of about 40,000 tons of fixed PV mounting frames for 2024-25. After the bidding process, framework agreements with selected suppliers will be signed and remain valid until Dec. 31, 2025. CEC said all products in the tender must meet Chinese national standards and specified technical requirements.

China's first-of-its-kind bus station integrating photovoltaic power generation, energy storage, electric vehicle charging, and other comprehensive services has started operation in Nanjing, east China’s Jiangsu. It features 8 charging posts that can simultaneously charge 11 new energy vehicles, along with a 35-kilowatt photovoltaic canopy and a 10-kilowatt-hour energy storage cabinet, which can provide approximately 35,000 kWh of green electricity annually.
