1. The Chinese-built 180-MW Tanque Novo wind power project has started production in Bahia, Brazil. The project's 40 China-made wind turbines with South America's longest impellers are expected to generate 720 mln kWh of electricity to meet the demand of 430,000 Brazilian families.
2. Recently, Elon Musk met with Shanghai Party Secretary Chen Jining to discuss Tesla's operations in China and the future of its electric vehicle and energy storage businesses. Chen expressed support for Tesla's efforts in promoting green energy, and emphasized Shanghai's focus on creating an innovative business environment with strong ties to international markets.
3. The Moroccan government and Chinese-European electric mobility company GOTION High-Tech on Wed signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a gigafactory dedicated to producing electric car batteries and energy storage systems, the first of its kind in Africa. The project, estimated to cost MAD 65 billion dirhams ($6.4 billion), aims to strengthen Morocco’s position as a leader in the automotive industry in Africa. It is poised to generate an estimated 25,000 job opportunities over 10 years, according to a press release.
4. Accordign to State Grid, the 320-megawatt photovoltaic plant of Dingzhuang Reservoir in Shandong, China, is world's largest floating photovoltaic powerstation.
5. According to Renewable Energy Market Update(June 2023) launched by IEA, in 2022, China accounted for almost half of all new renewable power capacity worldwide. By 2024, the country’s share is set to have expanded to a record 55% of global annual renewable capacity deployment. By 2024, China will deliver almost 70% of all new offshore wind projects globally, as well as over 60% of onshore wind and 50% of solar PV projects.
6. According to the latest World Energy Investment report by IEA, investment into solar will surpass oil production for the first time in 2023, with an estimated inflow of $380 billion in the solar industry and $370 billion in oil production.
7. According to official data, by the end of April, the total installed capacity of new energy in northwest China's Xinjiang had reached over 44.6 million kW, up 20.7 percent year on year.
8. China Energy Investment Corporation (China Energy) on Friday announced that it has put Asia's largest carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) facility for the coal-fired power generation sector into operation in east China's Jiangsu Province. The facility, attached to a generation unit at China Energy's Taizhou coal-fired power plant, will capture 500,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) every year, China Energy said.
9. On May 30, TITAN Wind Energy, one of the leading manufacturers of wind power towers, put into operation a wind power tower project with an annual output of 120,000 tons in Guangxi. The total investment is RMB500 million. After reaching the production capacity, it is expected to produce 400 sets of wind power towers (totaling 120,000 tons), with an annual output value of about RMB800 million.
10. Recently, a 30GWh sodium-ion and lithium-ion battery and system production base with a total investment of RMB10.2 billion was settled in Liuyang Economic Development Zone, Hunan Province. After the project is completed and put into production, the annual output value can reach RMB30 billion.
