1. China's first power channel for transmitting new energy from desert or wasteland began construction Sunday. The 800 kV UHVDC transmission project will stretch 1,634 km to link NW China's Ningxia with C China's Hunan, with over 50% of the power transmitted generated as new energy.
2. Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on June 11 that the first Russian discounted crude oil cargo has arrived in Karachi and would begin oil discharge the next day. It is the first-ever Russian oil cargo to Pakistan and the beginning of a new relationship between Pakistan and the Russian Federation.
3. China has put in place a multi-tiered green finance market system, with outstanding green loans and bonds both ranking among the top globally, according to the country's central bank. As of the end of the first quarter, the country's outstanding green loans in yuan and foreign currencies exceeded 25 trillion yuan (about 3.52 trillion U.S. dollars), while its outstanding green bonds surpassed 1.5 trillion yuan, data from the People's Bank of China (PBOC) showed.
4. JA Solar announced on June 12th that they plan to produce 36GW of N-type battery capacity in the third quarter of this year as per their capacity plan. Additionally, they have 20GW of N-type battery projects currently under construction. The production capacity of N-type batteries is estimated to exceed 40GW by the end of 2023.
5. On June 11, Yang Yinkai, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission of China, said in Shanghai that the current installed capacity of non-fossil energy power generation in China accounted for 50.9%, historically surpassing the installed capacity of fossil energy power generation.
6. The 884-MW Suki Kinari Hydropower project in NW Pakistan achieved the hoisting of the last rotor for the four generating units on Saturday, advancing the construction progress of the power station under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
7. Aiko Solar said on June 9th that it reached cooperation with Jinan City, Shandong Province in April 2023, planning to invest in the construction of a 30GW high-efficiency crystalline silicon solar cell project and its supporting 30GW module project in the city. At the same time, the company plans to invest 2.4 billion yuan to establish Shandong Aiko Solar Technology Co., Ltd. as the main body of construction and operation of the project.
8. NIO announced today that starting June 12, the starting prices for all new NIO models drop by RMB 30,000 ($4,200), but the previously free battery swap service several times a month becomes a paid option.
9. On June 12, UniTTEC, based on the comprehensive disciplinary advantages of Zhejiang University, announced that its holding subsidiary Hynar Water Group signed an agreement with Zhejiang Pujiang Economic Development Zone to plan to invest 2 billion yuan in the construction of a semiconductor-grade polished wafer production line project.
10. Hui Wu, Xiaoyan Li, and colleagues develop a prelithiation process for lithium-ion battery devices that is potentially industry-compatible and cost-effective, according to Nature Energy.
