1. Shanghai plans to have electric vehicles make up over half of the newly purchased autos for individuals and to increase the number of fuel cell electric vehicles to 10,000 units by 2025, according to the Shanghai Clean Air Action Plan (2023-2025) that was released recently.
2. Huawei Technologies and Chery Automobile will release their new electric coupe this quarter, and it will be the first model to use the HarmonyOS 4 operating system, the Chinese tech giant said on social media today.
3. 5,931 expressway service areas across China had been installed with 18,590 charging piles as of end-June this year, accounting for nearly 90% of the country's total expressway service areas. 4. According to Sungrow on Monday, it recently signed an agreement with India's Larsen & Toubro to provide inverter solutions for the 2.2GWac single photovoltaic project in Saudi Arabia's NEOM New City. The project is the world's largest single photovoltaic power station. It's the 2nd cooperation of the two parties after signing the NEOM New City 600MWh energy storage system agreement in December last year.
5. Recently, China's largest integrated source-grid-load-storage project was approved and will land in Yumen City, Gansu Province. The total investment of the project is CNY 26.3 bln, including CNY 16.1 bln for the 600,000-ton/year degradable material project and CNY 10.2 bln for the 1.56 GW new energy project. After completion, about 1,400 jobs will be provided.
6. From Jan. to Jul. 2023, the cumulative export of rare earth was 31,661.6 tons, up 6% YoY, according to the General Administration of Customs of China. China exported 5,425.6 tons of rare earth in July 2023, the highest since March 2020.
7. On Aug. 8, according to the General Administration of Customs of China, from Jan. to Jul., China imported 326 mln tons of crude oil, an increase of 12.4% YoY; 27.013 mln tons of refined oil, up 101.9% YoY; 66.876 mln tons of natural gas, up 7.6% YoY; 261 mln tons of coal, up 88.6% YoY.
8. The Gao Gong Industry Research Institute(GGII) predicts that from 2022 to 2027, the compound annual growth rate of China's small-type power lithium battery market will exceed 30%. Lithium batteries tend to replace lead acid due to the former's lightweight, environmentally friendly, and high-performance attributes.

According to PetroChina today, the Block III photothermal system of Xinli Oil Production Plant in PetroChina's subsidiary Jilin Oilfield was officially connected to the grid recently, marking the completion of the zero-carbon demonstration area of Asia's largest continental oil production platform cluster. The demonstration area produced China's first barrel of "Zero-Carbon Crude Oil".
10. Zeekr, the premium electric vehicle (EV) brand of the Geely Holding Group, announced its entry into Kazakhstan, following a similar move in Israel announced about a month ago. Zeekr has partnered with local car dealer Orbis Auto, which plans to launch Zeekr's EV products in Kazakhstan in Q4.
