1. Sungrow has agreed to supply inverter technology for a 2.2 GW solar plant under development in Oxagon, Saudi Arabia. The PV installation, which will be the largest in the Middle East upon completion, will provide power for Neom Green Hydrogen Co.’s (NGHC) $8.7 billion green hydrogen project.
2. An insider of GAC Group confirmed to Shanghai Securities News today that its Russian branch is developing new models for Russian consumers, after reports claiming the Chinese automaker will introduce several new models to enter the Russian market.
3. According to EVE Energy (SZ: 300014), its Malaysian factory started construction in Kulim County, Kedah recently. The factory will operate an International Cylindrical Battery Industrial Park project with an investment of no more than USD 422.3 mln. The project will produce 21,700 cylindrical batteries for electric tools.
4. Chinese electric car startup Neta Auto (Hozon Motor), began accepting pre-orders for its autos in Indonesia yesterday and expects to start deliveries from October. And from 2024Q2, Neta will be assembling the cars locally, the Jiaxing, eastern Zhejiang province-based company said yesterday.
5. In response to BYD's CEO Wang Chuanfu's recent remarks that "(Only when Chinese automakers) stand together that it flourishes the Chinese auto industry", Wang Yuanli, CTO of Great Wall Motor, said today that Chinese auto companies must face the reality of competition.
6. China Mono Grade, OPIS' assessment for polysilicon price in the country, increased for a fifth week running, edging up 0.95% to CNY69.29 ($9.58)/kg. China's polysilicon notches up toward the psychologically significant figure of CNY70/kg in a week that saw higher price quotes and lower-than-expected polysilicon output.
7. Biwatt Power, a Chinese manufacturer, has developed new residential sodium-ion batteries with an efficiency rate of 97% and a projected lifespan of more than 3,000 cycles.
8. On Aug. 11, Solargiga Energy (HK: 00757) announced that the group expects to obtain an unaudited profit attributable to the parent company of approximately CNY 90 mln to CNY 110 mln in 2023H1, up 32%-62% YoY.
9. China's new energy vehicle production totaled 4.591 million units in the first seven months of 2023, up 40% YoY, while NEV sales expanded 41.7% YoY to 4.526 million units in the same period, data from China Association of Automobile Manufacturers showed Thursday.
10. Huawei today denied that it is in talks with Chongqing's state-owned assets manager to cooperate on autos, after media reports said the Chinese telecom equipment giant intends to split off its smart car solutions unit and make it an independent business.
