1. China's largest solar-powered green hydrogen facility has been put into operation in Kuqa, NW China's Xinjiang, on Wednesday. The facility is able to generate hydrogen with no carbon emissions during the process, replacing the old solution of using natural gas.
2. China Mono Grade, OPIS' assessment for polysilicon in the country, extended gains for an eighth week, edging up 2.38% on-week to 75.50 CNY ($10.36)/kg. This market continues to contend with some short-term bullish factors. The increase in polysilicon production in August was still lower than expected, "mainly due to the shortage of electricity in summer," explained one source.
3. On September 1, COSL (SH: 601808) announced that recently, COSL Drilling Europe, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, signed a number of drilling agreements with two Norwegian international oil companies with a fixed term of CNY 4.7 billion and optional periods up to five years.
4. Hozon Auto, the owner of the Chinese EV brand Neta, yesterday signed a memorandum of cooperation with Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks to build its international HQ in the SAR, investing CNY3.2 billion (USD440 million) in the next five years.
5. Chinese scientists have developed a method to batch-produce a 2D semiconductor wafer-scale material, which is about one atom thin, enabling the fabrication of a record-large size of 12-inch wafers from that of 2 inches, according to an article in the journal Science Bulletin.
6. Brazil's state-run oil firm Petrobras plans to create a Chinese subsidiary, according to Reuters citing the company's Chief Executive Jean Paul Prates. Prates said Petrobras aims to open the Chinese subsidiary in 2024, after getting formal approval. He said the move would help efforts to triple its share of China's oil imports in the next couple of decades while contributing to warmer Brazil-China ties.
7. Equipped with China's 1st self-developed offshore gas turbine generator set, Lufeng 8-1 drilling & production platform has installed its upper block 180 km off S China's Shenzhen. It can simultaneously drill 3 oil fields and produce 24,000 barrels of crude oil per day at peak.
8. In a compelling demonstration of its resolute green and low-carbon drive, China will power the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games with renewable energy sources. For the first time in the history of the Asian Games, the Hangzhou Asian Games, which is scheduled to kick off in late September, will achieve the goal of fully using green electricity as the regular power supply for all competition venues.
9. JinkoSolar has announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Siemens Digital Industries Software. This agreement marks a continuation of the collaboration between the two companies, which first began in 2017. The partnership will focus on the development of new energy fields and digitalization businesses, further strengthening their alliance.
10. Chinese EV startups Li Auto, Xpeng Motors, and Nio reported big jumps in their August deliveries today. Li Auto's shipments soared more than seven-and-a-half-fold year on year to 34,914 units, that of Xpeng jumped 43% to 13,690 autos and that of Nio surged 81% to 19,329 units.
