1. According to official data, a record of 3.13 million new energy vehicles were newly registered in China in H1 2023, up 41.6% YoY, bringing the total number of registered NEVs in China to 16.2 million as of the end of June, accounting for 4.9% of the total number of cars.
2. The world's largest single-unit "salt-solar complementary" project has been connected to the grid in north China’s Tianjin, local media reported. The size of 1,868 football pitches, it can provide 1.5 bln kWh of clean electricity annually to meet the demand of 1.5 mln households, according to People's Daily China.
3. Fatih Birol, Director of the International Energy Agency and foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, met with Zhang Jianhua, Director of the National Energy Administration of China in Beijing. The two sides discussed the current international energy situation, the status quo of China's clean energy, and the direction of future cooperation.
4. The Three Gorges Hydroelectric Power Station on China's Yangtze River has generated over 1.6 trillion kWh of electricity in 20 years since its first generator unit was put into operation to generate electricity in July 2003, official data showed Monday. The clean energy produced by the Three Gorges Hydroelectric Power Station in the past two decades is estimated to be equivalent to the electricity generated by more than 480 million tonnes of standard coal and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 1.32 billion tonnes, helping China build a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system.
5. Over 100 million kilowatts for the first time in history! As of the end of June 2023, the installed capacity of power generation in Hubei Province reached 100.65 million kW. Among them, the installed capacity of hydropower reached 37.84 mln kW, accounting for 37.6%; the installed capacity of wind power and solar energy reached 27.02 mln kW, accounting for 26.8%. Hubei's clean energy accounts for more than 64%, ranking first in Central China.
6. ZEEKR, an electric automobile brand owned by Geely Auto., will enter the Israeli market in Q4 of 2023 and debut in the Middle East. ZEEKR and the Israeli distributor Union Group will cooperate to establish a sales network to sell ZEEKR 001 and ZEEKR X models, according to Bloomberg on July 10.
7. Over 200 million kW! The installed capacity of Huadian Group reached eight times that of when it was reorganized in 2002, and the proportion of clean energy reached 48.35% of the total, according to official data on Saturday.
8. Eco Forum Global Guiyang 2023, China's only national-level global forum themed on ecological civilization, kicked off on Saturday in SW China's Guiyang, Guizhou. This year's event, themed "Pursuing modernization of harmony between humanity and nature -- promoting green and low-carbon development," has attracted over 2,500 participants with both online and offline activities.
9. In the first half of 2023, the price of silicon materials dropped sharply, and the price war for silicon wafers heated up. Photovoltaic companies have started expansion plans, according to Guangfu.BJX. From Jan. to Jun. 2023, the expansion scale of silicon materials reached 760,000 tons, silicon wafers/silicon rods/slices reached 442GW, and batteries and modules reached 1100.6GW, and the total expansion amount exceeded 100 billion.
10. A record new high! The power load of the Sichuan power grid reached 59.888 million kilowatts by 13:20 on July 10, which was higher than the highest load of the entire power grid of 59.1 million kilowatts last year.
