1. China's Comprehensive Research Facility for Fusion Technology (CRAFT), a research facility to incubate core tech used in power generation of fusion energy that powers the artificial sun, is under construction in Hefei, Anhui China, and is slated to be completed in 2025.
2. SAIC-GM launched RoboTest, a self-driving smart vehicle test platform, to facilitate the intelligent development and testing of vehicles, according to the JV between China's SAIC Motor and US' General Motors. RoboTest has been put it into use in its Guangde R&D Test Center, according to Yicai.
3. NIO's co-founder and President Qin Lihong confirmed the Chinese NEV startup's third factory in Anhui province recently started construction and will have a first shift capacity of 100,000 units. The plant will produce models of the NIO and Onvo brands.
4. While the U.S. introduced tariffs on Chinese EVs, Australia's Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries said it supported competition "including an increased presence of Chinese-produced vehicles, that will ultimately benefit Australian consumers", according to ABC News.
5. China has been actively advancing the global green transition and contributing to global environmental and climate governance, said Chinese FM spokesperson Mao Ning on Wednesday, following question on some countries adopted protectionist measures, such as increasing tariffs on Chinese green products. Mao also said that Earth is the only planet we call home and needs to be protected by all in the world. What we need is environmental protection, not protectionism against green products. Protectionism cannot lead us to a green future.
6.China's retail sales of new energy vehicles rebounded in May, as the overall market improved. Retail sales of passenger NEVs in China totaled 790,000 units in May, up 36% from a year ago and up 17% from April, according to preliminary data released yesterday by the China Passenger Car Association. The preliminary figure is higher than the 770,000-unit estimate released by the CPCA on May 23.

The Qatar Investment Authority has reached a preliminary agreement with Chinese investment firm Primavera Capital to buy a 10 percent stake in China Asset Management, the country's second-largest mutual fund manager by assets, and the deal is under review by the securities regulator, according to Yicai citing an industry insider.
