1. CATL presented its new fast-charging Shenxing battery at the IAA23 for the European market. According to the company, the battery can achieve a range of 400 km with just a 10-minute charge. CATL has established two production bases and an R&D center in Europe to localize production.
2. The 447-km Hengyang-Guilin section of the transitional gas pipeline project linking C China's Qianjiang and S China's Shaoguan was put into operation on Tuesday, increasing the annual capacity of the country's south-to-north natural gas transmission by 2.5 billion m3.
3. NIO (NYSE: NIO) has entered into a new partnership to pave the way for the continued push for its iconic battery swap stations. NIO Power, the energy arm of NIO, signed a framework cooperation agreement with China Sports Space on Sep. 5 in Yangzhou, Jiangsu province, to work together in the green energy and green sports sectors, according to a press release by the Chinese electric vehicle maker yesterday.
4. China's Kedali (SZ:002850) signed a Material Sale and Supply Contract with a prominent European lithium battery manufacturer on Sep. 4. Under the agreement, Kedali will supply square lithium battery covers to the manufacturer.
5. JA Solar reported performance for the first half of 2023, shipping 23.95 GW of modules and generating revenue of 40.8 CNY billion and net profit of 4.8 CNY billion. Revenue grew 43.5% from 2022H1, while net profit attributable to shareholders increased 182%. Total assets reached CNY 87.9 billion, with net assets attributable to shareholders of the listed company reaching CNY 32.5 billion.
6. Hunan Huamin Holdings' shares experienced a surge after the company announced that it has secured its third significant order for solar wafers in China's photovoltaic industry. According to the announcement made by the Changsha-based supplier, China's Astronergy New Energy Technology has signed a contract to purchase 5 gigawatts of silicon wafers annually for the next three years, starting this month and ending in August 2026.
7. INEOS announced on Sep. 6th that it had signed a shareholder agreement with Sinopec on August 30th. The agreement is for the joint construction of an ABS plant with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons in the Tianjin Nangang Ethylene Project Cluster. The ownership of the plant will be shared equally between the two companies. The plant will use INEOS' Terluran ABS technology and will be constructed by Sinopec. The plant is expected to begin operations in April 2025.
8. Great Wall Motor Co. is exploring options including selling its stake in Svolt Energy Technology Co. as the battery firm's initial public offering in Shanghai may be delayed, according to people familiar with the matter. The Chinese automaker has held initial talks with prospective buyers of the stake, including CATL, the world's biggest maker of electric vehicle batteries, the people said, according to Bloomberg.
9. On Sep. 6, according to an insider close to Xiaomi, the company has begun pre-production of their cars. This work has been ongoing for less than a month, and Xiaomi is currently producing around 50 car models every week.
10. According to a report by UBS Evidence Lab, the Chinese electric vehicle BYD Seal is available for sale in Europe and has a 25% cost advantage over other North American and European EVs. The report revealed that BYD Seal is 35% cheaper to produce than rival European firms and Tesla, thanks to the company's vertically integrated component system and advanced technology.
