1. China and the US agree to communicate on the balanced economic growth of the two countries and the world under the framework of the China-US economic working group and will continue to conduct exchanges on issues including financial stability, sustainable finance, and anti-money laundering under the framework of the China-US financial working group, according to China's Ministry of Finance on Monday.
2. China-developed Asia's 1st cylindrical FPSO facility, Haiyang Shiyou 122, underwent inclining tests & adjustments Sunday in E China's Qingdao, a step closer to its operation by year-end. With a max oil storage capacity of 60,000 tons, it can sail 15 yrs straight without docking.
3. China's first geothermal scientific exploration well over 5,000 meters deep was successfully drilled to 5,200 meters underground on Monday in south China's Haikou on the Pacific Rim geothermal belt, refreshing the deepest record of its kind in the country.
4. Shell is considering quitting the London Stock Exchange for New York in what would be the biggest blow to the UK's struggling stock market so far. Wael Sawan, the oil giant's chief executive, said the company is looking at "all options" for its listing amid concerns it is under-appreciated by investors.
5. China's coal industry says it doesn't expect imports to increase this year, but the evidence from the first quarter is that the appetite of the world's biggest buyer remains ravenous. China's imports of all grades of coal from the seaborne market were 97.43 million metric tons in the first quarter of 2024, up 16.9% from 83.36 million tons in the same period in 2023, according to data compiled by commodity analysts Kpler.

A former vice general manager of Chinese state-owned oil giant China National Petroleum Corp(CNPC), Xu Wenrong, has been charged with taking bribes by state prosecutors, the prosecutor said on Tuesday. The statement on the prosecutor's official WeChat account said that Xu used his position at the company to accept illicit property from others and that the value of the alleged bribes is "particularly large".
7. The world's largest electric cruise ship has received over 580,000 tourists since it started the Yangtze River sightseeing service in 2022. The China-developed ship used over 2 mln kWh of hydropower-generated electricity, equivalent to cutting CO2 emissions by 1,500 tonnes.
8. PetroChina Daqing Oilfield's crude oil production surpassed the plan by 46,800 tons in the first quarter of 2024, and the natural gas production exceeded the target by 30 million cubic meters. Additionally, the power generation of new energy projects in operation in Daqing Oilfield reached 130 million kilowatt-hours in the first quarter of this year, showing a year-on-year increase of 38.3%.
9. Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao told French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire that the probe started in China on the cognac market is not linked to the one started by the European Union on Chinese electric vehicles, a source at the French ministry said on Monday. The anti-dumping investigation started in China will not necessarily end with tariffs, Wang told his French counterpart, the source in Paris said.
10. BP expects to report a strong performance from its trading business for the first quarter, with a notable improvement in results from buying and selling oil. This performance should lift spirits at the energy giant, which has been roiled by last year's shock departure of CEO Bernard Looney.
