1. China will boost the internationalization of the RMB, guard against systemic risks, and foster a sound monetary and financial environment, the country's central bank said. In the first 11 months of 2023, cross-border RMB transactions amounted to 48 trillion yuan ($6.76 trillion).
2. Volvo Cars announced that it reached record-high global sales of 708,716 vehicles in 2023, with 180,234 vehicles sold in Greater China.

5. A Chinese company invented a micro nuclear battery using isotope Nickel-63 and diamond semiconductors. The 100-μW coin-sized battery can generate electricity at 3V constantly for over 50 years and work safely under a temperature of -60℃~120℃ without radiation leakage.

China state-owned Jinneng Holding Group has broken ground on a massive new 55 billion yuan ($7.7 billion) project in Shanxi province combining wind turbines, solar panels and battery storage in an old coal mining area. The facility in Datong will have 6 GW of wind and solar capacity and 3.4 GWh of energy storage. It will be connected to the grid by the end of 2025.
7. Foxconn announced that it has established a new business headquarters in Zhengzhou, Henan to develop new industries, including new energy vehicles and batteries.

On January 9, according to GGII statistics, from January to November 2023, the global installed capacity of power batteries reached 627.8 GWh, an increase of 48% compared with the same period in 2022. In addition, global new energy vehicle sales from January to November reached 12.206 million units, a year-on-year increase of 40%.
9. A research test on vacuum infusion tech for the world's highest altitude wind turbine blades was successfully conducted in NW China's Qinghai, proving its "zero defects" potential in low-pressure infusion and marking China's ability for world-leading wind turbine blade production.
10. Recently, China's National Energy Administration stated that in 2023, domestic oil and gas production exceeded 390 million tons of oil equivalent, maintaining a growth rate of 10 million tons for seven consecutive years, with an average annual growth of 11.7 million tons of oil equivalent.
