1. Boasting the largest lifting capacity of its kind in China, Haifeng 1001, a 2,500-t offshore wind power installation platform, was delivered Tuesday. The self-propelled jack-up platform can transport and install two 20-MW-level wind turbines and operate at a max depth of 70m.
2. As of August 2023, the total installed capacity of Qinghai Power Grid was 47.674 mln kW, with 31.172 mln kW coming from new energy sources, accounting for 65.4% of the total installed capacity. The new energy power generation made up 46.1%, setting a new record high, according to China's Qinghai Electric Power Company on Sep. 20.
3. On Sep. 19, BP appointed Kate Thomson as interim chief financial officer to take the place of Murray Auchincloss who became interim CEO last week. The reshuffle follows the abrupt departure of CEO Bernard Looney last week. Thomson, who joined BP nearly 20 years ago, previously headed the finances of the energy giant's oil and gas production and operations division.

On Sep. 19, according to the National Energy Administration of China, from January to August 2023, the newly installed photovoltaic capacity in China was 11.316 GW (113 mln kW), and the cumulative installed capacity reached 505 mln kW. Up to now, China's annual newly installed photovoltaic capacity exceeded 100 mln kW for the first time.

7. In August 2023, the EU car market expanded by 21%, reaching 787,626 registered units, marking the thirteenth consecutive month of growth. In August 2023, EU battery-electric car registrations surged by 118.1%, reaching 165,165 units, accounting for 21% of the market, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).
8. According to a report by Cailian Press on Sep. 20, the Shanghai Qingpu District Human Resources and Social Security Bureau issued an administrative decision letter to WM Motor on August 31. The letter states that WM Motor has failed to pay 248 of its employees their wages and remuneration amounting to approximately CNY 13.39 million for the period of February to May 2023 without any valid reason. The department has directed WM Motor to reimburse the entire amount owed to its employees within 15 days from the date of receipt of this administrative decision. Despite the deadline having passed, a resigned employee of WM Motor has confirmed that the company has not yet implemented the directive.

10. During the World Manufacturing Convention on September 20, 2023, the Chairman and CEO of Volkswagen Group (China), Ralf Brandstätter, announced that the company's electric vehicle factory in S China's Hefei City will soon begin production. The factory is expected to have a maximum annual production capacity of 350,000 vehicles. Brandstätter stated that Hefei will not only serve as Volkswagen's production base but also as a new R&D and innovation center in China, focusing on the development of new-generation electric vehicles as well as intelligent connected vehicles.
