1. Mingyang Smart Energy, the world's top wind turbine manufacturer, signed contracts on Sun with Singapore's renewable energy company Vena Energy, to develop the Philippines' largest installed windpower projects: Talim 212.5 MW and Sembrano 93.75 MW onshore wind power projects.
2. On May 12, the 2nd 100-MW photovoltaic project in Yinggehai Salt Field of Hainan Holdings, was put into operation, with an average annual supply of 160 million kWh of green electricity. It can save 64,000 tons of standard coal and reduce 159,000 tons of CO2 emissions every year. The total investment of the project is about RMB590 million($71.89M).
3. China's largest offshore drilling platform The 15,000-tonne Enping 20-4 located in Pearl River Estuary finishes float-over installation of topsides on Sat, set a new record for China's installed weight of float-over topsides using dynamic positioning, according to CNOOC.
4. In 2022, CNOOC achieved a total oil and gas output of 120 million tons of oil equivalent, a record high. The company's domestic crude oil and natural gas production increased by 3.39 million tons and 2.7 billion cubic meters respectively YoY. The increase in crude oil accounted for more than 60% of the total increase in China, ranking first for four consecutive years. In 2022, CNOOC produced 14.62 million tons of refined oil, imported 26.69 million tons of LNG, generated 21.8 billion kWh of natural gas power generation.
5. A HongKong liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving and offtake terminal, the world's largest offshore LNG terminal, has entered trial operation, said the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) on Sunday. Once completed, the project will increase the share of clean energy in the region's electricity production, which is of great significance for optimizing the energy structure of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
6. On May 12, Ganfeng Lithium announced that its subsidiary will invest RMB2.5 billion($359.44M) to build a new energy lithium battery production and R&D project in Xiangyang, Hubei. The first phase is to build a lithium battery packaging base with an annual output of 5GWh.
7. China became the world’s largest vehicle exporter for the first time in the first quarter, surpassing Japan and Germany, as it exported 1.07 million cars between January and March, an increase of over 58% from a year earlier, the General Administration of Customs said yesterday.
8. The eastern and middle routes of China's South-to-North Water Diversion Project have transferred 62 billion cubic meters of water to the drought-prone north, benefiting more than 150 million people, its operator said Sunday.
9. According to the statistics of China's national electrochemical energy storage power station, there are 300 electrochemical energy storage power stations under construction in China in 2022, leading to the growth of new energy storage will exceed 100% in 2023.
10. Recently, Zhejiang Jinko Energy Storage Co., Ltd. was established, which is indirectly wholly owned by JinkoSolar, the world's leading photovoltaic module company. The registered capital is RMB1 billion($143.78M).
