1. The Chinese currency renminbi (RMB), or the yuan, climbed one position to become the fourth most active currency for global payments by value in November 2023, with a share of 4.61%, said the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) on Thursday.
2. Tesla today officially announced a new Megapack battery factory project in Shanghai, with an annual output of 10,000 Megapack battery units, according to a land acquisition signing ceremony, Xinhua reported.

He Kebin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the dean of the Carbon Neutrality Research Institute of Tsinghua University, stated today that in 2020, the entire Chinese society consumed 7.5 trillion kWh of electricity, with an electrification rate of 26.9%. By 2060, it is estimated that the electricity consumption of the whole society will be 16 trillion kWh, and the electrification rate will be 70%. This means that by 2060, the electricity demand will double that of 2020, equivalent to the need to build another power system.
7. China has set up its 1st zero gas leakage demonstration zone at an oil and gas field in Leshan, SW China's Sichuan, boasting a drone patrol system with real-time pipeline monitoring and millimeter-level high-precision positioning services powered by BeiDou.
8. China's space station can now recycle over 95% of its drinking water, thanks to a new subsystem capable of converting water from exhaled CO2 and hydrogen produced by the water electrolysis system. The subsystem was installed by the Shenzhou-14 crew in 2022.
9. A 759,000 kW wind + 241,000 kW solar power project was connected to the grid on Thur at China's first multi-energy complementary comprehensive energy base in Gansu, expected to generate 2.271 billion kWh of green power annually to meet the demand of 780,000 households.
10. Chinese battery giant CATL signed a strategic agreement with EV maker Seres Group, under which CATL will supply high-quality battery products to Seres' AITO. The two companies will also collaborate on new product development, new technologies, and the use of new materials.
