1. Miao Wei, former minister of industry and information technology, said "China's new energy vehicle development has entered a brand-new stage of comprehensive market expansion, which will drive the NEV penetration rate to reach 50 percent as early as 2025."
2. Saudi Basic Industries Corporation, one of the world's largest petrochemical manufacturers, said it will invest CNY44.8 billion (USD6.4 billion) to build a petrochemical complex in China's southeastern Fujian province.
3. Apple is reportedly developing a more limited electric car than initially envisioned. The company is targeting a 2028 release for the vehicle, which is about two years later than its most recent estimates. In addition, Apple is currently developing more basic driver-assistance features for the car, which will use a so-called Level 2+ system. This is a downgrade from the Level 4 technology that was previously planned.
4. Tesla drivers in China are facing entry restrictions at more government-affiliated venues, including meeting halls and exhibition centers, due to data security concerns amid ongoing tensions between Washington and Beijing, Nikkei Asia reported today.
5. China-based BYD has become the latest electric vehicle automaker that has entered the Indonesian market. Introducing three electric passenger cars, namely SEAL, Atto 3 and Dolphin, BYD is now among the list of at least five Chinese EV brands that have been sold in Southeast Asia's largest economy.

7. China's largest-scale concentrated solar power project Tue completed the installation of its 11,960 heliostats, covering a 580,000 sqm site in Kazak Autonomous County of Aksay, NW China's Gansu. The 750-MW project can produce 1.7 bln kWh of clean electricity a year upon operation.
8. Chinese solar module maker Trina Solar has unveiled two new rooftop solar modules based on tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) cell technology. The manufacturer said that the new 144-cell products have a bifacial dual-glass design and combine n-type technology with 210mm rectangular silicon wafer (210R) cell technology.

Global nuclear power generation is set to reach an all-time high next year, according to the latest forecasts from the International Energy Agency, marking a resurgence for the technology and boost for efforts to cut carbon dioxide emissions. Output from nuclear power plants is expected to rise by about 3% both this year and next to 2,915TWh, overtaking the previous peak of 2,809TWh in 2021, and by a further 1.5% in 2026, the IEA said. Growth will be driven by new reactors in China and India as well as the return of plants in France that were shut down last year for maintenance.
10. The first transaction was completed as China's voluntary carbon market for greenhouse gas reductions was revamped in Beijing on Monday. China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), the largest offshore oil and gas producer in the country, has purchased 250,000 tonnes of carbon credits to offset its emissions. One tonne of carbon credits can offset one tonne of carbon dioxide emissions.
