1. Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, has stressed vigorously promoting the high-quality development of new energy in China to make greater contributions to building a clean and beautiful world. Xi made the remarks on Thursday while presiding over a group study session of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
2. Human Horizons, the struggling Chinese maker of HiPhi-branded premium electric vehicles, is encouraging employees to leave voluntarily with financial incentives. Employees who decide to go will be paid an equivalent of one month's salary for each past year of service, the Shanghai-based producer of new energy vehicles announced today. Workers can join the program by tomorrow evening and all transfers are scheduled by September.
3. Top oil exporter Saudi Arabia may keep term prices of crude it sells to Asian customers little changed in April versus March following a slight rise in Middle East benchmark prices, several trade sources said. The official selling price of flagship Arab Light crude could stay unchanged or rise by 10-20 cents a barrel in April, according to a Reuters survey of six refining sources.
4. China's 1st self-developed large multi-function mother ship for offshore wind farm operations and maintenance hit the water Thur in Fuzhou, SE China's Fujian. The pure electric-powered ship measures 98.7 m long & 22.8 m wide, with a cruising range of over 10,000 nautical miles.
5. The 1st prototype of the China-developed 300MW F-class heavy-duty gas turbine rolled off the production line Wed in Shanghai, becoming the most powerful and advanced homegrown heavy-duty gas turbine in the country and marking China's key innovation milestone in the field.
6. China mulls building 3,000 charging piles and 5,000 rechargeable parking spots in highway service areas in 2024 to enhance new energy vehicle charging facilities, a vice transport minister said Thur, noting some 21,000 new charging piles were added on expressways last year.
7. A dual-fuel-powered bulk carrier with a capacity of 190,000 deadweight tons was named Ubuntu Liberty and delivered to its owner on Wednesday by China State Shipbuilding Corporation's (CSSC) Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co Ltd.
8. Li Auto delivered 20,251 vehicles in February, up 22% from a year earlier, the Chinese NEV startup said today. Li Auto aims to reach monthly deliveries of 50,000 units in March, as the Li Mega and the 2024 models under its Li L series will be launched today.
9. China's liquefied natural gas imports for February jumped to the highest-ever level for that month, as a drop in spot prices spurred additional purchases of the fuel. Deliveries rose to more than 5.5 million tons, a 15% increase from a year earlier, according to ship-tracking data compiled by Bloomberg. That's the first time China's monthly imports have broken a record since 2021.
10. Global energy majors Exxon Mobil and Shell will work with Singapore to develop a cross-border carbon capture and storage project, both companies said on Friday. The Singapore-based units of the two companies, ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. and Shell Singapore Pte. Ltd., have formed the S-Hub consortium to work with the Singapore government as lead developers for the project to reduce the country's carbon dioxide emissions.
