1. Recently, China's first prefabricated "energy island" for photothermal recycling was completed in Turpan, Xinjiang. The project is independently designed, developed and remotely controlled by Changsha University of Science and Technology. This energy island makes full use of local solar and thermal resources, realizes energy storage and energy supply, and has the characteristics of 100% green energy utilization, 100% zero carbon emission, and 100% off-grid operation.
2. On Thursday, Sungrow and Energy China signed a 2.1 GW contract with to provide 1+X Modular Inverter solutions to the Al Shuaibah project in Saudi Arabia. With a total AC capacity of 2.66 GW, the project is the world's largest PV project.
3. On Wednesday, China and Kazakhstan reached cooperation agreement on economy, trade, production capacity, investment and emerging sectors such as renewable energy, as part of broader steps to strengthen pragmatic cooperation.
4. CRRC Ziyang has become the largest supplier of rail transit in Turkmenistan since it entered the Central Asian market in 2004. The locomotives provided by CRRC Ziyang undertake about 95% of the railway freight and passenger traffic in Turkmenistan.
5. RSM Group, a global leader in light metal materials, stated recently that based on the results of the previous cooperation with Chongqing University, the company has optimized solid-state hydrogen storage materials to promote large-scale production.
6. On May 18, Sinopec and KazMunayGas signed an agreement in Xi'an on key terms for cooperative development of polyethylene project in the Atyrau region of Kazakhstan. The project is the largest natural gas chemical project in the region, and it is expected to make a final investment decision in 2024.
7. The first batch of wind turbines in Honghe Yongning wind power plant, southwest China's Yunnan Province, were connected to the grid on Tuesday. With a total investment of RMB4.7 billion ($674 million), the power plant is built to have a total installed capacity of 750 MW. When fully connected to the grid, the project is expected to provide about 1.9 billion kilowatt-hours of green power to the province every year, the group said.
8. The newly-launched lab is the global refrigeration industry giant Danfoss' most advanced and largest scroll compressor R&D and testing center in Tianjin, China. The tested and validated techs and solutions will find widespread applications in sectors like energy storage, said Duan Chenjun, head of the center.
9. Hunan Changyuan Lico, a Chinese battery materials supplier, said it will build a factory in Fujian province at a cost of CNY10 billion (USD1.4 billion) to produce high-performance ternary and lithium iron phosphate cathode materials.
10. According to International Energy Forum (IEF) on Thursday, global oil demand reached record levels in March.
