1. The photovoltaic power generation project of the Hunutlu Power Plant in Türkiye, with an installed capacity of 21 megawatts, was connected to the country's power grid on May 25, said its operator, the Chinese firm State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC). This project was an example of Chinese solution, technology and equipment being used to help a country achieve green energy transition. Currently, SPIC is carrying out the construction of the second and third phase of the photovoltaic project, aiming to increase the installed capacity of renewable energy.
2. On June 26, HE Haitham Al Ghais, OPEC Secretary General, attended the Energy Asia 2023 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and said that it is estimated that by 2045, the global population will reach 9.5 billion, and the global daily oil demand will up to 110 million barrels.
3. China's first provincial-level innovation center of new power system technology was born! On June 25, according to State Grid's Qinghai Electric Power Company, the Qinghai Innovation Center of New Power System Technology construction plan was officially approved by the Department of Science and Technology of Qinghai.
4. The 14th Summer Davos Forum was held in Tianjin, China, from Jan.27 to Jan.29. Saudi Arabia sent the historically largest official delegation of 24 members, including six ministers and one deputy minister. The delegation is led by Faisal Alibrahim, Minister of Economy and Planning of Saudi Arabia, and Abdullah Alswaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Saudi Arabia.
5. According to Energy China, Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman met with CEEC's chairman Song Hailiang in Riyadh recently. The two sides agreed on advancing green energy transition and infrastructure development. CEEC will collaborate with Saudi Arabia in new energy consulting and planning, hydrogen and ammonia production, and industrial capacity cooperation.
6. A mega hydro-photovoltaic (PV) complementary power station located in the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Garze, southwest China's Sichuan Province, went into operation on Sunday. As the first phase of the Lianghekou hydropower plant's hydro-PV complementary project, the Kela photovoltaic power station in Yajiang County is the world's largest and highest-altitude hydro-PV complementary power station.
7. The floor area of China's green buildings has exceeded 10 billion m2 amid efforts to promote green development in urban & rural areas, the latest data showed. In 2022, green buildings accounted for about 90% of the total newly-built buildings in cities and towns across China.
8. Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab in Tianjin on Monday. Li said China is ready to work with all parties to build an open world economy.
9. At the ongoing 14th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also known as the Summer Davos Forum, in Tianjin, Xin Baoan, chairman of the State Grid, said the company will take a series of measures to enhance the global cooperation of energy facilities, strengthen the interconnection with neighboring countries in terms of power grids, boost policy coordination, promote the internationalization of energy production, consumption, and trade, and actively participate in the formulation of international standards.
10. Chinese scholar Kai Liu and colleagues develop an asymmetric lithium salt to enable carbonate electrolytes in lithium metal batteries, according to Nature.
