1. The total cargo throughput via the ship locks at the Three Gorges Dam, the world's largest hydropower project, hit a new record in the first half of 2023, the Three Gorges Navigation Authority said Saturday.
2. On Sunday, China's largest ultra-high voltage power transmission project across the Yangtze River was completed and put into operation in E China's Jiangsu. The 500-kV project spanning 2,550m across the Yangtze River has an estimated max annual power transmission of over 26 bln kWh.
3. On June 30, Xianghe hydropower station, part of a key water conservancy project in SW China's Tibet, officially started operation. The project can guarantee a reliable water supply for 33,000 people and provide 138.17 mln kWh of electricity for a local power grid annually upon completion.
4. The China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association said last week that wafer prices dropped by up to 5.6% compared to a week earlier. Wafer manufacturer LONGI said that the price downward trend reached the bottom in late June, with demand now beginning to grow.
5. New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins said when visiting China on June 28 that the relationship with China is incredibly important for New Zealand. According to analysts, the visit is welcomed as a success with trade agreements and joint commitments to further cooperation in green energy and e-commerce.
6. NEV Companies' Sales in June 2023:
-Li Auto: 32,575 vehicles, an MoM increase of 15%;
-NIO: 10,707 vehicles, an MoM increase of 74%;
-XPeng Motors: 8,620 vehicles, an MoM increase of 15%;
-BYD: 253046 vehicles, an MoM increase of 88%.
In addition, according to Tesla's Q2 data, the company delivered more than 466,100 vehicles in the second quarter, an 83% year-on-year increase, setting a quarterly delivery record.
7. China's total annual consumption of unconventional water resources is expected to reach over 17 billion m3 by 2025, a recent guideline said, adding that the utilization rate of recycled water will surpass 25% in water-scarce cities at or above the prefecture level.
8. On July 3, according to CNOOC, Jinwan "Green Energy Port", the largest natural gas storage and transportation base in South China, has completed the main structure of five liquefied natural gas storage tanks with the world's largest single tank capacity of 270,000 cubic meters in its second phase project. After the completion of the project, it can achieve an annual reduction of 33.52 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
9. Sichuan GCL Lithium Power's annual production of 360,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate energy storage material project has been officially put into operation recently. Company sources said that in the next three years, GCL plans to build multiple industrial bases in Sichuan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Guizhou, and other places, which will increase the total annual production capacity of energy storage materials to 3 million tons.
10. Recently, CATL and Changan Auto have established Times Changan Power Battery Co., Ltd. with a registered capital of RMB 1.5 billion. The business scope includes battery manufacturing and sales, emerging energy technology research and development, new material technology research and development, electronic special material research and development, etc.
11. Shell China announced today that Chen Lin was appointed new chair on July 1, becoming the group’s first-ever female to hold the title. Since joining Shell as a management trainee in 1997, Chen worked in various countries and served as the VP of Shell Chemicals, according to Yicai.
