1. China's largest oil refiner Sinopec said on Wednesday that it has started drilling a geothermal well that is about 5,000 meters deep in Haikou City, S China's Hainan Province. The well will be the country's deepest geothermal well.
2. State Grid's Xinyuan Chongqing Panlong Pumped Storage Power Station, located in Zhongfeng Town, Chongqing City, is the first large-scale pumped-storage power station in Southwest China, with an installed capacity of 1,200 megawatts.
3. Hurun Inc. published the Hurun China Most Valuable Private Energy Companies 2023 list on September 7. The list reveals that CATL, BYD, and Li Auto are the Top Three companies, while five photovoltaic companies, namely LONGI, Sungrow, Tongwei, JinkoSolar, and TCL Zhonghuan, are among the Top Ten.
4. China takes third place in global energy transformation rankings, contributing significantly to international renewable energy development, and relevant investments and trade, said a blue book released by the China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute and BloombergNEF on Wednesday.
5. Ganfeng Lithium has recently announced that its fully-owned subsidiary, Ganfeng International, will increase its investment in Mali Lithium B.V. by up to USD 138 million. This investment will be used for the subsequent construction and expenses of the Goulamina project. After the capital increase is completed, Ganfeng International will own a majority stake of 55% in Mali Lithium B.V., thus indirectly holding a 55% stake in the Goulamina project.
6. On Sep. 7, EVE Lithium (SZ: 300014) made an announcement that its subsidiary, EVE Power, had signed a MoU with Rimac, a Croatian manufacturer of supercars and battery components. The two companies will collaborate to establish a sustainable and localized electric vehicle supply chain in Europe. As per the agreement, Rimac will be responsible for the mass production and supply of batteries to EVE Power for the production of electric vehicle batteries.
7. BASF today signed a 25-year agreement with State Power Investment Corporation to purchase renewable electricity for its Zhanjiang Verbund site in Guangdong province. SPIC will supply 1,000 GWh of dedicated renewable electricity to BASF annually starting in 2025.
8. A fleet of 150 Wuling Air EVs has been providing commuter service for delegates and staff workers at the 43rd ASEAN Summit held on Sept 5-7 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
9. China's first bus-to-ambulance mobile emergency unit with 5G tech was launched in E China's Zhejiang on Thursday, ready to serve in the upcoming HangzhouAsianGames. The unit was transformed from a lithium-powered bus & is equipped with advanced ER equipment incl. ECMO machine.
10. China's imports and exports recorded a total value of 27.08 trillion yuan (about $3.7 trillion) in the first eight months of 2023, remaining at a high level compared to previous records, data from the General Administration of Customs showed Thursday.
