1. BYD announced yesterday that its total sales in September 2023 were 287,500 vehicles, compared with 201,300 vehicles in the same period last year; the company's total sales in the first nine months of 2023 were 2.0796 mln vehicles, up 75.48% YoY.
2. Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory delivered 74,073 electric vehicles in September, a year-on-year decrease of 10.9%. The cumulative delivery volume this year has reached approximately 700,000 vehicles, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association on October 8.
3. China is ready to work with Uzbekistan to take the Belt and Road Initiative as the main line in cooperation, advance synergy of development strategies, expand economic and trade cooperation, improve interconnectivity, enhance energy cooperation, and deepen cooperation in various fields between the two countries, Chinese Premier Li Qiang said Sunday when meeting with Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov.
4. Evergrande NEV said its UAE investor NWTN will suspend the second and third payments of its USD500 million share subscription deal because of uncertainties in struggling Chinese real estate giant Evergrande Group, the carmaker's parent company, an HKEX filing showed yesterday.
5. A Chinese team has become the world's first to achieve magnetization of a completely assembled 20MW wind turbine rotor, which greatly improves production efficiency and safety and reduces costs compared to the traditional method where assembly usually comes before magnetizing.
6. LONGi launched its new Hi-MO X6 distributed modules based on HPBC technology yesterday. Hi-MO X6 is based on high-efficiency HPBC battery technology, which is independently developed by LONGi. Its power generation performance is 6%-10% higher than that of traditional modules.
7. Recently, Neta Auto and CATL signed an agreement to deepen strategic cooperation. The two companies will work together in new projects, new technologies, and overseas business expansion.
8. On Oct. 9, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, from July to August 2023, the national polysilicon, silicon wafer, cell, and component output growth was close to or more than 80% YoY. From Jan. to Aug. 2023, China's crystalline silicon photovoltaic cell output exceeded 320GW. The export volume of photovoltaic products such as silicon wafers, cells, and modules reached US$36.17 billion, up 1.1% YoY.
9. On Oct. 9, a report released by China Southern Power Grid showed that as of September 2023, the installed capacity of non-fossil energy in China's five southern provinces and regions reached 270 mln kW, accounting for 59% of the total installed power supply, and will exceed 60% by the end of 2023; its installed capacity of new energy has exceeded 100 mln kW, doubled compared with 2020, accounting for 24% of the total installed power supply.
10. China's SPIC said construction work on the first reactor unit at the Lianjiang Nuclear Power Plant began at the end of last month. The Lianjiang project, SPIC's first in the coastal area of Guangdong, is designed to have six reactors with an investment of about CNY20 bln (USD2.7 bln) per unit. It has a total estimated installed capacity of 8,620 MW and will generate around 70.2 billion kWh of electricity per year, SPIC added.
