1. Cross-border RMB payments and receipts rose 24% to CNY38.9 trillion (USD5.42 trillion) in the first nine months from a year earlier, the PBOC said. Cross-border goods trade settled in yuan accounted for 24.4% of the total trade settled in both domestic and foreign currencies.
2. CDT's 100MW/400MWh compressed air energy storage system, the first of its kind in the world, with an artificially created underground gas storage, kicked off in Zhongning, northwest NW China's Ningxia.
3. Chinese EV giant BYD announced that it will launch a new SUV called the Song L on October 31st, which will be available in the market within the year. BYD says that the Song L will be an important addition to its lineup.

The Ji Yue 01 is a series of AI-powered robocars and medium- and large-sized pure-electric SUVs.

On Oct. 30, according to the National Energy Administration of China, in the first three quarters of 2023, the country's newly installed renewable energy capacity was 172 million kW, up 93% YoY, accounting for 76% of the newly installed capacity. 7. Fuzhou, in China's southwestern Fujian province, was one of the five cities that received the inaugural Global Sustainable Cities Award, or Shanghai Award, at the 2023 World Cities Day China Observance in Shanghai. 8. Despite the EU's recent anti-subsidy probe into Chinese electric vehicles, German auto giant Audi recently cooperated with Chinese automaker FAW on a NEV joint project. With a total investment exceeding CNY 35 billion (USD 4.87 billion), this state-of-the-art factory is set to become one of Audi's most advanced manufacturing sites globally, focusing on cutting-edge technologies and sustainability, according to Audi FAW NEV Co., Ltd.
9. Hangzhou First Applied Material is spending USD270 million to build three new plants in China, Thailand and Vietnam that make encapsulation films and backsheets for solar panels. First Applied will spend CNY608 million (USD83 million) to construct a high-efficiency battery encapsulation film factory with an annual capacity of 300 million square meters in Hangzhou,, it said on Oct. 27. The Hangzhou facility will be built according to its existing production lines and it should be finished before December 2026.
10. China's smart vehicle makers and autonomous driving companies have become popular with investors in the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia, as the oil-rich region is looking for new ways to drive its economy. So far this year, at least seven startups in the sector including Nio have inked deals with investors from countries in the region, with combined investment nearing 100 billion yuan ($13.72 billion).
