1. The largest offshore wind power project in south China's Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with an annual electricity generation capacity of 3 billion kWh, became fully operational Tue in Guangdong's Huizhou, able to cut CO2 emissions by about 2.35 million tonnes a year.
2. China's automobile exports will exceed 5 million units this year, setting a new record, Han Wenxiu, executive deputy director at the General Office of the Central Financial and Economic Affairs Commission, said at the annual conference over China's economy today.
3. Trade and economic ties between Saudi Arabia and China are expected to strengthen further, with the recent investment conference in Beijing witnessing the signing of more than 60 memorandums of understanding and agreements valued at $25 billion. The China-Saudi Investment Conference on Tuesday witnessed the signing of agreements in various sectors, including energy, agriculture, tourism, mining, and financial services. 7. Countries have reached a "historic" agreement at the COP28 climate summit to transition away from all fossil fuels to reach net zero emissions globally by 2050. Within minutes of opening a UN plenary session in Dubai on Wednesday morning, COP28 president Sultan al-Jaber brought down the gavel on the agreement with no objections from any of the almost 200 countries present.
8. Argentina's new president, Javier Milei, sent a letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping asking China to allow a currency swap between the two countries and expand the currency swap agreement reached between the previous government and China, according to Argentine newspaper La Nación on Tuesday, citing multiple sources. The Argentine government needs to complete payments to the IMF in renminbi.
9. Yebatan hydropower station, the largest hydropower project in the upper reaches of China's Jinsha River, has seen a major construction milestone as its dam reached over 100m high. The project is expected to generate 10.2 bln kWh of electricity annually upon completion in 2026.
10. China is expected to contribute over 30% to the growth of the global economy in 2023 and remain a world-leading growth engine, a senior official said Wednesday, noting China's vehicle exports are estimated to exceed 5 million units this year to reach a new record high.
