1. A 3.1-mln-kW wind power project, one of China's first large-scale wind power base projects, was put into operation on Mon in N China's Inner Mongolia. The project can generate around 8.93 bln kWh of green energy and reduce CO2 emissions by over 7.53 mln tonnes annually.
2. China's first fully electric floating boat for cleaning objects on the surface of the Yangtze River, developed by CTG, commenced construction in Hubei Province, on Dec 10. The boat will undertake channel cleaning and waste transport in the Three Gorges reservoir area.
3. According to the National Energy Administration of China, as of the end of November, China's cumulative installed power generation capacity was around 2.85 billion kW, which is an increase of 13.6% YoY. Out of this, the installed capacity of solar power generation is approximately 560 million kW, which saw a YoY increase of 49.9%, and the installed capacity of wind power generation is approximately 410 million kW, which saw a YoY increase of 17.6%.
4. The National Energy Administration of China reports that the average utilization of power generation equipment in the country from January to November was 3,282 hours. This is 94 hours less than the same period last year. Among the different types of power generation, hydropower had 2927 hours, solar power had 1218 hours, nuclear power had 7001 hours, thermal power had 4040 hours, and wind power had 2029 hours.
5. From January to November, China's major power generation companies invested a total of CNY 771.3 billion in power supply projects, which is a 39.6% increase compared to the previous year. Of this amount, 320.9 billion yuan was invested in solar power generation, up 60.5% YoY. Additionally, 77.4 billion yuan was invested in nuclear power, up 45.3% YoY; wind power investment also increased by 33.7% YoY, totaling CNY 202 billion. The investment in power grid projects was CNY 445.8 billion, up 5.9% YoY.
6. World's largest clean energy corridor consisting of 6 mega hydropower stations on China's Yangtze River marks its 1st anniversary since it went fully operational on Dec 20, 2022, meeting the demand of 280 mln people by delivering over 270 bln kWh of electricity in the past year.
7. China's coal imports last month from top supplier Indonesia rose 16% from October while those from Australia were up nearly 30% as utilities restocked for winter power generation. Indonesian coal shipments, with an energy content mostly of 3,800 kilocalories and many of which are under annual supply contracts, reached 18.33 million metric tons last month, data from the General Administration of Customs showed on Wednesday.
8. Abu Dhabi's state oil giant ADNOC said on Wednesday it signed a 15-year agreement to deliver at least 1 million metric tons a year of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to a subsidiary of China's ENN Natural Gas. The LNG will primarily be sourced from ADNOC's low-carbon Ruwais LNG project, currently under development in Al Ruwais Industrial City, Abu Dhabi, according to a statement from ADNOC, adding that deliveries are expected in 2028 when commercial operations at Ruwais begin.
9. The Sichuan Central Oil and Gas Mine, located in Suining, Sichuan, has officially launched as the first 10-million-ton oil and gas mine in southwest China. It produces over 12.417 billion cubic meters of natural gas, more than 106,000 tons of petroleum liquids, and an oil and gas production equivalent of more than 10 million tons, according to CCTV News today.
10. China's Tiangong space station, Baihetan Hydropower Station, and the Harmony operating system were listed in the Global Top Ten Engineering Achievements of 2023, alongside other international accomplishments, including ChatGPT and Spot&Atlas robots, a report said Wednesday.
