1. Li Auto said yesterday it put its 500th supercharging station into operation, reaching the milestone in only 43 days after opening its 400th. The Chinese EV startup expects to have 2,000 supercharging stations with more than 10,000 charging piles in China by the end of the year.
2. Saudi Aramco is set to take a 10% stake in a thermal engine joint venture between Renault and China's Geely called Horse Powertrain, according to Reuters citing two sources familiar with the matter, beefing up a business supplying legacy automakers as electric-vehicle sales slow. The agreement to take a 10% stake in the Horse Powertrain business, is lower than the stake of around 20% which was cited by sources at the beginning of discussions.
3. Shell has reached Final Investment Decision for Polaris, a carbon capture project in Alberta, Canada. Polaris is an important step in reducing emissions from our operations, and is designed to capture approximately 650,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.
4. The world's first floating wind power+fish farm platform was officially put into operation Friday off the coast of Putian, SE China's Fujian. The platform consisting of a 10,000-m3 water-volume net cage and 4-MW wind turbine can generate 16 million kWh of green power per year.
5. China has unveiled the world's first commercially operational metro train built with carbon fiber materials, marking a significant leap in eco-friendly urban transportation technology. Developed by CRRC Qingdao Sifang and Qingdao Metro, the CETROVO 1.0 train boasts reduced weight and energy consumption, paving the way for a greener future for subways.
6. China Three Gorges Renewables Group said it will invest CNY79.8 billion to build a large new energy power supply base in a desert in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Located in Kubuqi Desert, the base will include an 8,000 MW photovoltaic power plant, a 4,000 MW wind power plant, and a 200 MW optothermal power plant, as well as supporting 4,000 MW coal power plant and 5,000 MW-hours new energy storage facilities, China Three Gorges Renewables announced late yesterday.
7. BYD's plant in Uzbekistan saw the first production vehicles roll off the line, after launching production earlier this year. The first model produced at the plant is the BYD Song Plus DM-i Champion Edition, which saw its first production vehicles roll off the line on June 27, the Chinese new energy vehicle maker said today.
8. According to the National Energy Administration of China, as of the end of May, China's total installed power generation capacity was 3.04 billion kW, showing a year-on-year increase of 14.1%. Among them, the installed capacity of solar power generation is 690 million kW, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 52.2%, and the installed capacity of wind power is 460 million kW, showing a year-on-year increase of 20.5%.
9. The data from China's National Energy Administration indicates that from January to May 2024, the newly installed capacity for wind power was 19.76GW, and for photovoltaic power was 79.15GW. This shows an increase of 21% and 29% respectively compared to the same period in 2023. In May of this year, 2.92GW of wind power was added, marking a 35% increase from the 2.16GW added during the same period last year.
10. China's self-developed Enping 21-4 Oilfield, with a daily light crude oil output of up to 740 tonnes, became fully operational off the coast of south China's Shenzhen, its operator said Thur. The oildfield's 9,508-m-deep A1H well is currently the country's deepest offshore well.
